Commercial Description:
Unconventional. Uncompromising. A Deschutes original. This IPA style beer utilizes hops in a way never attempted by our brewers, evident in both aroma and flavor. The Cascade and Centennial hops are balanced by 2 types of crystal malts as well as American pale malt and German pilsner malt. The wind beneath your wings, perhaps… IBU’s: 63

A little light for my taste but in all fairness I must rate it well. Great balance of hops and citrus notes. The citrus lingers on my palete. Good experience.

courtesy of fiulijn - clear amber-orange colour with a little persistent beige foam; very perfumy hoppy aroma with notes of quince marmalade, cream and flowers; low carbonation, medium-bodied, solidly bitter, long bitter fruity and flowery finish

Poured from a 20oz bottle, reddish-orange and opaque. Great balance of hops and malt. Floral and a little nutty. Pretty darn good.

Pours a orange amber color. Very little head, no lace. Some citrus, pine aroma, but not much. First sip, rather balanced and i was questioning it’s IPA status at first. But as further sips continue, the hoppy was build up, thank goodness. But still with some malt rounding out still. This is good, but not as good as the experimental hop henge.

Sampled at GABF. Dark orange pour with an offwhite head. Aroma is sharp citrus rinds, grass, grapefruit. Flavor is pretty good. I liked this one.

22 oz bottle 5.69 from university market. A pretty standard IPA, good hoppiness, citrus, and floral make it very drinkable. A solid effort, if not entirely inventive.

Pours burnt orange with a slight red tint and a creamy off-white head. Aroma is quite fresh with orange citrus, pine, lemon and grass with french toast sort of malt background. Tastes malty and hoppy at once, neither character winning out; flavors include caramel, toffee, sweet toast, and flavorful hops of citrus, grass and earth. Finishes with caramel, lemon zest, and buttered toast with an aftertaste of toast and grapefruit. Medium bodied and absolutely effortless to drink, this is very smooth and moderately creamy. Everything I liked about Cinder Cone seems magnified and fully realized here, with a bit more hops (flavor and aroma only! little bitterness). I want another one.
