Tap @ San Diego Brewing Company. Pitch black in color. Dark brownish head. Slightly sweet roasty aroma. Flavor has a lot of chocolate up front with a little sweetness. Followed by a lot of booziness. Lots of roasted coffee. Finish tastes like extremely bitter/burnt coffee beans and is fairly dry. Quite enjoyable.

Wow! This beer is just fine. The aroma is hints of a number of things, smoke, chocolate, coffee, borbon, vanilla. The flavor is just as satisfying as the aroma. The semi sweet chocolate comes out at me first followed by a nutty, roasty flavor that really dazzles the tongue. You could almost drink this beer with a spoon. Carbonation and mouthfeel just don’t get any better. All round excellent beer that someday I hope to drink one by myself. WOW!

Deep black, large tan head, excellent lacing. Aroma is deeply roasty, milk chocolate, coffee, chalky bitterness. Flavour is highly roasty, lots of chocolate, black coffee, some sugar sweetness, oatmeal. Highly bitter mouthfeel, large body, moderate carbonation. Finishes extremely roasty, very bitter, lots of chocolate.

This is huge, intense roast. Lots of roast and chocolate. One big fucking imperial stout.

650ml bottle shared by beerhugger, thanks Steve.

pretty dark but showing glimmers of an orangish brown in the light. thin dark tan head. remarkably vivid brownie aroma, chocolate galore. thick lucious chocolate flavors...signifantly sweet, but perfectly so. biscuity chocolate everywhere...hop bitterness is there but completely balanced by the sweetness ...slightly roasty but only enough to round out the chocolate flavors and bridge them with the subtely spiced hops. this is one of those imperial stouts that is really hard to find faults with....well done!

22 oz. bottle from LS - Pours a thick black color with a two finger thick tan head. Lots of lacing. The aroma runs the gambit. Coffee, light molasses, hint of vinilla, and a touch of bourbon oak. Flavor is coffee, light chocolate, and a hint of licorice. Has a smooth, but dry palate. Hop bitterness seem to stick out along with the alcohol. Will have to try another this Fall. Should be even better. An excellent beer.

22oz bottle from Bev Mo Carmel Mountain. I think this is the darkest, thickest beer I’ve ever seen! Poured a deep coffee brown almost black. Head was big at first then dissipated, looked like bubbling milk chocolate. Great lacing was left on the glass. Nose was big on chocolate, coffee, molasses and alcohol at first. As the beer set, more bourbon and licorice became present. Big rich and oily mouth feel. I think I was expecting a bit more from all the hype, but overall, a killer Imperial Stout.

Big black pour w/ a tall dark tan creme of wheat looking thick head w/ thick lacing. Hot alcoholic aroma light coccoa powder some roast malts hints of coffee touches of vanilla I want to say theres even a tiny touch of cherry in it. Rich creamy palate full well coated. Flavor is very nice... light barrel notes are a highlight not a dominate flavor.. some bitter coccoa powder touch of tobacco some butters and roasty malts a lightly bitter finish light oaks and hints of vanilla. Very nice.

22 oz shared by Mullman at his own gathering. Almost black in color with a brown head. Aroma is roasty, with chocolate, oak, caramel and light notes of vanilla. Taste is alot of chocolate, moderately roasty, caramel, burnt sugars, and oak. Light on the bourbon, apparent but barely so. Finishes roasty and lightly bitter/astringent. very nice.
