Black with a brown head. Big roasted/blackened malty aroma with chocolate and bourbon. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. Huge, rich flavors of blackened malts with earthy sweet black licorice and dark chocolates. A mild oak essence just adds more depth, as if this beer needs any more. Fantastic freakin’ beer here.

black pour with a chocolate brown head. sweet roasted malts, molasses and sugar on the nose. huge coffee and roasted malts, oak and some other stuff i can’t name. not quite as thick as i was hoping but it’s very easy and seems well balanced on the palate.

Dark with a thick reddish-brown head, nice sheeting around the glass. Nose roasty, lots of dark fruit, noticeable hops. Flavor very rich, quite dry at the end. Some oakiness, but, for once, it’s not overdone--it doesn’t taste like I’m sucking on wood chips. Quite nice.

First batch, sampled at stevo’s. Pours ultra-black with some mahogany edges and a big tan head. The aroma is ashy with plenty of chocolate, a touch of oatmeal, and a hint of cappuccino. The flavor is very ashy with some smoke, chocolate, a hint of alcohol, a touch of coffee, some meaty nuts, and some vanilla. This here is a great beer.

#1600: Multiple tap samples at brewery. Very black pour with a dark tan head that lasts. Aroma shows great complexity with notes of coffee, chocolate, roast, caramel, moderate to low hops and barrel characteristics. Barrel flavors are there, but by no means dominate. Not a world beater, but it’s got most of what I look for in an Impy Stout. Heavy bodied, nearly dry finish. Yum

A black appearance with a moderate tan head. The aroma is dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, raisins, and some alcohol. The flavor is rather sweet with more dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, and raisins. The finish is very smooth considering the ABV. Overall a very good beer!

bottle. black thick body with a big orange brown head. moist fudge brownie nose. some vanilla & roast with some booze in there too. whoa, for something so big, this is incredibly easy to drink. strong woody slight smoke charred roast chocolate. i can taste the licorice, but it is not dominant. all the flavors are working together well, & making "the long goodbye" even more enjoyable to watch. the alcohol doesn’t bite, but dries out the sweetness perfectly and leaves a woody vanilla licorice flavor lingering. the roast/coffee gets a bit strong as this warms, and the alcohol comes out a bit more too. how many damn times is a version of this shitty song going to play in this movie? powdered cocoa is coming out nicely as harry swings on the gate. there is something fun about being a drunk, & getting drunk, while watching someone try to act like a drunk, getting drunk on screen. i do it much better, but with less attractive women. a dr. pepper & milk (a few people on the site will get that reference) quality to this i really enjoy. it was a decent film and a damn good beer, and both took 112 minutes to get through. 5 7 8 5 18
