Shared with our beer group during our blind stout tasting. Black, creamy brown head that sticks to the glass and land lasts well into the glass. Espresso, and dark chocolate, hints of oak and anise. Full body, light carbonation, palate coating with a welcome richness. Loads of flavor with treacle sweetness, roasted malt, and dark roasted coffee and more chocolate. Teh flavors linger in the long, dry finish.

2007 vintage via and shared with oakbluff on New Years Eve. Black in colour with moderate carbonation. Strong aromas of chocolate, vanilla, wild licorice, caramel, and coffee. Very mellow in the mouth with a dominant chocolate fudge flavor, with secondary notes of vanilla, flint, and caramel. Finishes dry, with a nice peppery hop finish. Quality stuff.

Sampled @ GABBF - I will be honest this did really not blow the wind up my skirt. I thought it was extremely overdone. Loads of licorice and dark chocolate, with some dark fruits, molasses and a large amount of heat from the alcohol in the finish, along with a salty kind of soy sauce astrigency.

Deep impenetrable dark, with a huge thick head. With a chocolate, espresso and vanilla on the nose. Hint of tabacco up front with toasted chocolate, oak and coffee finish. Rich and chewy texture, a great one to share!

Crushed with Honkeybra and Jakebra. Incredibly complex. Coffee, chocolate, molasses, little licorice, dark dark roast. Flavor is just as fucking good. Finish lasts for about 5 minutes. It just keeps on going. Incredibly happy to crush this one.

Bottle 2008 from trade with stefanje, thanks! Pours a deep, dark black with a dark head that disappears. Nose is a touch hoppy and roasty, with chocolate and some vanilla coming through in the nose. Pretty standard IS nose. Rich, thick mouthfeel that carries a fair amount of hoppiness with it and the vanilla riding a wave of astringent and acrid notes. For the levels of bitterness going on, it does have a pretty deep sweetness. Smooth and pretty easy to drink. Good, but not top 5% IS to me.

22oz bomber, 2007 Reserve. The beer looks awesome. Pours thickish dark black with a dense and creamy light brown head. Smells like moldy drywall and bark. Tastes of dirt and ashes, it does have a malty aftertaste once the taste of ashes finally fades. Maybe a hint of chocolate in there as well. Full, but not thick bodied. OK carbonation. It’s different, I’ll give it that. Not very good in my opinion.
