It’s pretty unique and a good fit for the ambience the label calls for - okay, I’m a sucker. But worth a try, anything from Deshutes is worth a try. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Walked outside in the stiff breeze and checked out everyone’s damage. Some folks lost roofs, windows and doors. Most other houses lost a couple dozen shingles. All told, we lost seven shingles… that’s all. God watches over babies and drunks, I guess. Anyway, back to the beer… lightly hazy, apricot-colored ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The nose is of wildflower honey. Perfectly balanced flavor but a bit thin and bland. Light to medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Lengthy, mildly bitter, dry, and finally, grassy finish. Thanks go out to kenb for the bottle! TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 6, 2006 Yellow gold. White pillowy foam clings to the glass. Perfumey aroma, doughy yeast, earthy hops, honey and unspent grains (hay dust). Hard, palate scrubbing carbonation. Initially airy with a blend of fluffy lightly toasted malts and a sneaky earthy brashness produced by the hops. Fairly empty at the center and also very grainy, but it’s well balanced and fairly clean. Touch of fruitiness sneaks in, but it’s mostly dry. Lengthy peppery hop bitterness and lightly toasted malts comprise a large portion of the bland but integrated finish. Interestingly, the nose is highly alcoholic for something so modest in strength, and also quite yeasty and grainy. Very unexciting, but serves its purpose as a decent introductory to craft beer.

Pours a nearly-clear light amber with a modest head. The aroma is dusty grass and a bit of lemon; the flavor is a mellow sesionable bitters, definite British character, hints of green apple, a bit of spicy bite from the malts, thin mouthfeel, metallic finish.
Perfectly drinkable summer ale and more or less what one might have expected out of Deschutes’ regular line. ratman197 (3270), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Bottle poured a hazy orange with a lingering off white head. Aromas of light citrus, bread and straw. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, light orange, a hint of lemon and a bit of straw with a crisp lightly bitter finish. Very drinkable but nothing about it stands out. sistinas (60), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 31, 2006 Bottle. Golden straw colored with a medium-sized head. Slightly citrus, bready smell - nothing strong or tempting. Tastes kind of the same... flavor is pretty thin with a bitter end and funky aftertaste. Vaguely refreshing since it’s so thin... meh. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
