xsketchyx (184), Oregon, USA Feb 13, 2004 Awesome, a very original, thick and bubbly champagne like beer. Worth the very high price... definitely a better choice for new years.
Roel (2), , Belgium does not count Jan 6, 2009 A bottle from 2006. A nice gold-orange color, a porous head that goes fast. It has a herbal nose and an accompanying, somewhat herbal, taste.
Quite special to drink. madquacker (545), Canberra ACT, Australia Jan 4, 2009 Hard to fault this. Alcohol of over 11 per cent is well balanced against a refined yeasty style. Orange colour with very yeast taste. Not great value for money at this price but interesting for special occasions. dpjuart (642), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 3, 2009 2006 bottle at Zeno’s courtesy of Nate. Pours golden with fizzy white head. Herbal nose, heather, witch hazel, slight cherry, ginger with notes of biscuit and bread. Taste is fruit and sweet malt, cinnamon-sugar bread and gingersnaps. very champagne-like. Dry finish with fruity notes, apple, cherry and raisin. Pretty tasty overall. plovmand (827), Helsinge, Denmark Jan 2, 2009 Bottle. Hazy golden colour with a bubbly white head. Very champagne like. Spicy and malty aroma with notes of fresh fruit and yeast. Fruity and herbal flavour with pepper, clove and coriander notes. It a very nice strong ale with all the typical belgian ingredients. Alcohol is very well hidden. Nate (2352), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 2, 2009 From bottle at Zeno’s. Wonderful herbal nose like a Ricola cough drop. Witchhazel, coriander, heather, and ginger. Toast and biscuit, mild pilsner malt. Crystal clear golden yellow with thin white lightly lacing head. Light champagne with a bit more body. Effervescent and light. Starts and stays sweet with pilsner malt, ginger, spices, and light yeast. Tasty stuff though a bit too sweet in the finish. This is counteracted by light carbonic acidity from the heavy carbonation. Very rich and tasty but I couldn’t drink a lot of this.
