HomeBrewHawk (151), De Soto, Kansas, USA Jun 29, 2008 Thanks to Dansting for this one. 12oz bottle served in a shaker pint. Poured a hazy gold with a thick head of off white bubbles. Pine/citrus hop aroma with a little caramel malt as it warms. On the malty side of the IPA fence, though there is a decent hop bite in the finish. A little buttery flavor, maybe an older bottle? Decent IPA, fairly drinkable.
kosko20 (199), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Nov 28, 2008 Trade thanks to Andrew. This was dominated by diacetyl which obviously gave the beer buttery flavor and aroma. In fact it was so overpowering that the hops were hard to detect. Maybe a bad batch? Anyways, still wasn’t terrible... ChainGangGuy (1721), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Nov 1, 2008 Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy, amber body with a thin ring of white bubbles on top.
Smell: Grainy malt nose upfront, then some caramel wanders in, and then the spicy, citrus-minded hops.
Taste: Lightly grainy pale maltiness and caramel sweetness usher in an earthy, spicy, even citrusy hop character. Medium-plus, though reasonably balanced with the malts, bitterness. Finishes bittersweet.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Certainly an acceptable (but not quite exceptional) India Pale Ale! Yes, I accept it. unclemattie (1715), Georgia, USA Oct 11, 2008 12oz bottle. copper color. tan foamy head.
heavenly grapefruit and citrus hop notes. Flavor has a full malt character, followed by a sharp hop bitterness. Linger hop bitter favors. very balanced. I really enjoyed this IPA.
Too bad this wasn’t made for Huckabee! ATLBeerDog (279), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 11, 2008 From a 12 ounce bottle - Pours a slightly cloudy deep orange/red with low carbonation, and average lacing. Delightful smells of big sweet malts and some big hops. First sip is somewhat bitter with a welcomed hop presence that is complimented with a strong enough malt backbone to really balance out the aggressive hops. Not too bad. BMan1113VR (1162), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Oct 5, 2008 On tap and in bottle. Good IPA. Pours a clear orange with a light brown head that leaves great lacing and has good retention. Aroma is of citrus hops (Centennial and Williamete as far as I could tell). Taste is nice and hoppy, with a decent amount of balance. Water like mouthfeel, good levels of carbonation. I belive the brewer said after testing this was only 5.8%.
