It was not my favorite, nor was it bad. For some reasons the malt flavor that I tasted was peanuts, and the hop flavor that I tasted was black pepper. Initial peanut taste followed by a black pepper aftertaste/mouthfeel. Everything that I have heard about this brewery made me extremely excited to have this, but to tell you the truth, I was pretty disappointed. I am going to try this again most def, and re rate. terapenguin (11), USA

While some IPAs exhibit typical IPA qualities to an extreme, this one is exceptionally balanced and seems very refined. This is the best IPA I have had. doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA

Good frothy, white, half inch head with good lacing and not too cold. Nice big hoppy aroma. Typical floral/citrus. Not much in the way of pine, though. I was a little dissapointed though with the taste. Definitely not as hoppy as the aroma would have indicated. Still a good West Coast IPA. Maybe I get my hopes up when I smell a great hoppy west coast style beer. felthove (1), USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 13, 2006 I’ve had this several times at the brewery and elsewhere and it is absolutely my favorite IPA. No, it is not as resiny and piney as some of the Stone and Alesmith IPAs but it is absolutely gorgeous and balanced. Just delicious. I recommend you seek this out; not for the "wow" factor but for the sheer completeness of this beer. after4ever (2766), Brier, Washington, USA

Still body. Interesting palate: crisp but fruity and still clean...fantastic stuff, and has been for a long time. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

I have to say that I was surprised when I read the rave reviews here that seem to be almost universal. It was a pretty good IPA, to style for sure, but that good? Not in my opinion. You can hold it up as ’what IPA should ideally taste like’. Zinister (1201), Houston, Texas, USA
