2005 RBSG - growler courtesy of Oakes. Aroma of floral hop, maybe cascade hops. Citrusy, quite thin. Mild hoppiness in my sample. Strange flavors that I cannot pin down, not a great batch according to Josh. I am not overly impressed.

Sample from growler (thanks Josh) at RBSG Montreal. Well-retained head topping oily, turbid amber body...pungent, smelly, assertive nose shows sweet pine after an initial whiff reminiscent of manure....exceedingly bitter, tarry and tongue-ripping initial flavor calms down fairly quickly into a tart, citrusy, clean midpalate, with harshness and a hint of alcohol towards the end. Well made but I think not exactly my kind of IPA.

RBSG2005. Servi d’un Growler. Couleur dorée, faible mousse blanche, apparence presque translucide renfermant plusieurs minuscules dépôts. Pamplemousse, jeunes conifères, beurre et caramel. Corps semi mince à moyen, finale amère.

Growler RBSG05 thanks to Oakes. Aroma is hoppy with some marijuana notes and sweetness as well. Mildly hazy golden color with an off-whitish head. Grainy flavor with a lot of resinous flavors to start, turning grapefruity and more bitter to finish. This is very resinous and bitter. Not very smooth and I did not enjoy it as much as the raters who rated this before me. In all fairness, this is a growler that made a trip across the continent. According to Josh, this batch was "off".

A plethora of creamy citrus fruit laced together by caramel malt sweetness...Textbook texture transmitting indelible, yet easily edible resinous hop bitterness...A classy compendium of coniferous equilibrium...

Bottle... RBSG 2005... Lightly hazy, deep golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Pine and grapefruit nose. Bitter flavor of grapefruit and light toffee. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Medium bitter, citrusy, grassy finish.
