Fantastically interesting aroma. It has a combination of dry, woody, resiny hops, and vibrant fruit notes. There’s a lot of sweetness countering a strong hop presence, but it isn’t the traditional caramel malts. Must be the port wine - it’s a really, really interesting note in an IPA, and I have to say, I’m a fan. The aroma is just delicious, and the flavor is great, too. Nice, full mouthfeel - maybe a bit overcarbonated, but that can be swirled out. Seriously bitter for all the sweetness countering. Intriguing. Interesting. Nice!

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Dec 7, 2009 GI-normous white head. Red body throws the whole IPA thing into question. But the flavors are pure IPA. Pine and citrus hops with a crisp finish. A familiar blend of hops flavors Diamond knot uses in their Industrial IPA is most welcome. The red malt is adding interesting caramel hops and so must not only be forgiven, but embraced and enjoyed. A northwest Pale Ale that went to the beach and got a caramel tan. The oaked flavor is quite enjoyable. Nena (176), West Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Updated: Dec 7, 2009Draft at Brouwer’s Big Wood ’09. Poured darker than one would expect, an amber brown with a moderate white head. Aroma is complex and hoppy, but with a caramel sweetness. Has a caramel and apricot sweet malt flavor to balance out the hops that dominate this. Pine, cedar and grapefruit hop flavors and aromas come forward, and the finish is long, dry, and oaky. The initial sweetness lingers all the way into the finish. The hop profile of this immediately recalled Diamond Knot’s usual IPAs and made me vividly recall enjoying it with friends at their brewpub. I practically tasted Diamond Knot’s pizza after smelling this. The maltiness of this is powerful enough that I’m not sure if I want to call it an IIPA,but I loved it just the same. after4ever (2809), Brier, Washington, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 16, 2009 On tap during Hopfest at Brouwer’s. Pours a dark head with lots of lacing. Aroma is sugary and floral with some oak. The palate is a little too syrupy for me. Taste is sweetness that is overcome by the oaked bitterness. Alcohol is definitely apparent. carruthm (1170), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2009 A lightly hazed brown pour with creamy off white head and lace. Aroma of tea, caramel. Flavor is a deep caramelly malt flavor with a very light hop presence. Alot of brown sugar likeness. A tad thin from a medium bodied beer with nice carbonation. A beer that reeks of strong ale characteristics but a damn fine beer anyway you call it.
