Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 10, 2007 At Bailey’s Taproom, Portland. A dark brown with a thin brown beer. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of nuts. The flavor is sweet with notes of nuts, grain, caraemel, toffee, and brown sugar, leading to a dry bitter finish. Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 12, 2007 Dark brown. Inch thick head. Big roasty, chocolatey and massively hoppy nose. Smooth chocolate and grapefruit character. Nice full malty body. Robust, quality. argo0 (6230), Washington DC, USA Jul 25, 2004 (draft) Creamy beige head; dark red-brown body, nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee, cream. Taste is medium sweet, coffee, roasty, light smoky. Creamy medium body. CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jan 22, 2007 Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a thin, spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of lightly roasted malts and dark chocolate notes. Starts with a touch of light caramel malty sweetness revealing some piny bittering hops before a thinner mocha finish that hides the alcohol fairly well. Otherwise, a fairly uninteresting porter. hopdog (4649), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 26, 2007 22oz bottle. Poured a deeper brown color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocolate and coffee. The aromas are decent and standard for a porter although I think there is some cardboard in the background (oh, oh). Aromas of roast, chocolate then a sour and tartness that just doesn’t belong there.
