Sour aroma of raspberries. The flavor is very sour with a lot of raspberries, it’s very refreshing. The mouthfeel is dry and the carbonation is moderate. Very good. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2005 On draught at Dieu du Ciel with Muzzlehatch, Tiggmtl, Bret Kuhnhenn and his father and sister. 6/2/2005. Served in a weizen glass. Fantastic pink-tangerine-ruby red grapefruit sort of appearance, with different layers of colors, lightly hazy and having a large pink-yellow tinged-white head atop it, plenty of retention and lacing. Aroma is soft raspberries, tart wheat notes and a bit of lactic/sour yeast character. Vanilla and raspberry seeds as well. Flavor is immediately dry, lightly tart from the raspberry flavor and then quite full of wheat. Ends lightly sour, not overly so, not as much as you would expect a full-on b. weisse to be. Though aside from that, the balance and body are wonderful. Not watery, and nowhere near syrupy, cloying or candy-like, this is artfully and tastefully done, with just tart, fresh raspberry flavor. Creamy wheat, vanilla, bits of woody underbrush are lightly present aside from the lactic sourness and raspberries. Wonderfully refreshing and drinkable, with a medium to medium-light body, but no thinning. A real masterpiece, so I think. I have to give this a couple more points overall than normal, just because the execution on this must be so difficult. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2005 Soured wheat and raspberries are strong in the nose. Hazy red body is topped by a decent, pink-tinged-white head that recedes rapidly to cover. Strong tart raspberry flavour is complementary to the raw wheat character. Goes down very smoothly despite the obvious acidity. Light, refreshing body with moderate, spritzy carbonation. On tap at the brewpub with Olivier_MTL. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2005 draught. fresh raspberries on the nose, though somewhat subtle. bright red body, small reddish head. lots of real raspberry flavour, some tartness. This was my first of what became many from Dieu du Ciel. Very nicely done and especially comforting on a hot day. Boutip (2383), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2005 Sample at Mondiale 2005: Poured a light clear pink color beer with small bubbly head with almost no retention. Aroma of raspberry syrup is clearly identifiable with also some sourness. Sourness clearly dominates the taste and is well balance with the raspberry, which are not overly sweet. Reminiscent in some ways of some lambic fruit. Very interesting and very refreshing beer. asheft (1438), Marburg, Germany

Almost clear, Hawaiian Punch with no head. Lots of fresh Raspberry in the aroma and very sour smelling with no obvious malt. I had this one right after the New Glarus Raspberry Tart and found Amourette more sour and drier, with a little less raspberry, but New Glarus was the most raspberry anything could ever be. And the "berliner weisse" qualities of Amourette really came out in the flavour with sourness not only from the non-yeast microbes but also from the wheat malt used. Extremely refreshing. Very light body and mouth puckeringly sour with explosive carbonation. Excellent finish. Eructoblaster (1499), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2005 Interesting red body topped with a thin pink bubbly head. Fresh raspberries aroma and very well balanced taste. It ends with a nice sour finish. Considering that brewing fruit beer is quite hard, that one is more than fair. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 2, 2005 The Lure: Sinuous lactic acidity infiltrating some fresh raspberries. Milky, bright and vibrant, there is no artificiality in this fruit beer/berliner weisse hybrid.
The Festivities: This is a lighter version of their other berliner weisse brewed with raspberries, Solstice d’Été aux Framboises. Raspberries are as fresh as ever though, from their sweet peel to their juicy pith. Sourness is diplomatic (that’s the "lighter" part) and covered in drops of milk. Body is light and drinkable while being round and never boring. The more you drink it, the more the berliner weisse in it sticks to your gums and all you have to do to get another taste of it is lick your teeth. Now that’s a summer beer.
Transcendence: The birdies are chirping in the backyard this morning.
