I used to be very fond of RIS’s and actually burned out on them, with that I stopped drinking regular stouts. This beer reminded me how good a stout can be! Dark brown pour with a frothy tan head and thick drippy lace. Fresh roasted coffee beans on the nose. Creamy oily palate. Cocoa nibs, vanilla, roast, chocolate, and coffee. Pours black with a medium-sized creamy tan head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate and lots of vanilla with mild roast. Pours almost black with a large tan head. Nose is chocolate, roast, sherry. Taste is chocolate, vanilla, honey, sumatra coffee. Body is light/medium, carbonation medium. Pours a pitch black with a fizzy, dark tan head that has fairly good retention and leaves some good lacing. Very nice aroma of Godiva liquor, rich chocolate truffles, some dark cherries. Taste is loads of milk chocolate and vanilla extract. Medium bodied with a beautiful, creamy palate. After awhile, this beer creates a nice oily, sort of numbing mouthfeel. Very smooth, enjoyable and all-around a great beer.
