Commercial Description:
Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

bottle thanks to jilindros (from BA). Pours black with a huge, fluffy light-brown head. Beautiful. Nose is of cocoa and espresso. Taste is roast coffee with vanilla and elegant chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium-thin and leaves a residual taste in your mouth long after. Very nice.

Thanks to Stowehop for the bottle! This stout really hit the spot. I used to be very fond of RIS’s and actually burned out on them, with that I stopped drinking regular stouts. This beer reminded me how good a stout can be! Dark brown pour with a frothy tan head and thick drippy lace. Fresh roasted coffee beans on the nose. Creamy oily palate. Cocoa nibs, vanilla, roast, chocolate, and coffee.

Bottle labeled "Aphrodite" via trade thanks to jlindros on BA. Pours black with a medium-sized creamy tan head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate and lots of vanilla with mild roast. Flavor is loads of vanilla, high-quality milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, and some roasted malt. Palate is creamy and smooth with medium body. This is a really nice beer.

330 mL thanks to Glouglouburp. So glad they started bottling this. Pours a pitch black with a fizzy, dark tan head that has fairly good retention and leaves some good lacing. Very nice aroma of Godiva liquor, rich chocolate truffles, some dark cherries. Taste is loads of milk chocolate and vanilla extract. Medium bodied with a beautiful, creamy palate. After awhile, this beer creates a nice oily, sort of numbing mouthfeel. Very smooth, enjoyable and all-around a great beer.

Bottle. Pitch black pour, very little carbonation and a solid peat and vanilla aroma. Flavor is dark chocolate, vanilla, and silky smooth all the way through to the slightly smoky finish. Well done.
