Pours pitch black with a large, firm, creamy, beige head. Aroma has smoke, cocoa-powder, dark chocolate, light coffee notes, roasted malts, a touch of liqourice and fine, elegant vanilla sweetness. Low carbonation, fine creamy and light mouthfeel. First impression is chili or pepper, but otherwise flavour is powdery cocoa, roasted malts, sweet vanilla, bitter, coffee and dark chocolate notes. Really stunning dry bitter aftertaste with lots of cocoa and milk chocolate. This is an amazing taste explosion at 6,5 %. More taste and far more elegance than most Imperial Stouts ever muster, far beyond most regular stouts. Stunning. Anker (313), Hillerød, Denmark

Pours a dark brown colour with a firm light brown head.
There is lots of sweet chocolate in the aroma but also weak notes of vanilla and alcohol.
The flavour is sweet chocolate and vanilla, slightly bitter and notes of roasted malt.
Its a little watery on the palate and really not my thing. after4ever (2839), Brier, Washington, USA

Pours jet black with a comically gigantic creamy tan bedrock of mousse atop the beer. Thick sheets of foamy lace. Just looks decadent and delicious in every way. Humongous milk chocolate candy bar nougaty nose. Just sweet and delightful. You can hardly believe it’s only 6 and a half. Creamy medium body with present but understated carb. Plenty of milk chocolate and mild roast on the mid-palate. Long milk chocolatey finish. Can hardly wait for this one to be a regular fixture on the local scene. Great, great, great stout. Pours pitch black with a small creamy head and lacings. Lots of Belgium chocolate. Reminds me of Rogue chocolate stout. A bit of vanilla. Smooth and easy. Ends dry and bitter. Its good . . . But not the best stout out there! dmac (1507), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2009 11.2 oz bottle via trade with daknole, thanks bro. Pours a deep dark black with an ample foamy dark beige head. Aroma is subdued and not what I was expecting. What is there is a Tootsie Roll scented chocolate dominating most of the aroma with softer notes of vanilla extract and grains. Flavor is better then the aroma with a bit more vanilla coming through, chocolate, raostiness and coffee gronunds adding in the roasted burnt flavors. Medium bodied with rather strong bubbly carbonation. Just like Peche Mortle loses a lot from keg to bottle I have a feeling this one does as well. Gonna have to head back up to Montreal and get some of this one tap directly from the source. Still a very good beer regardless. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Tastes rich and delicious, muted roasted notes but plenty of vanilla bean and sweet chocolate. Good bittering hops, unobtrusive and generic. Very low carbonation, lightly creamy body. This is a real dessert of a beer - yum! Skinnyviking (4192), Copenhagen, Denmark

Body well black it is indeed. Lovevly intense smooth and sweet choccolate vanilla cream aroma. Flavor is a bit thin and sweet choccolate vanilla cream with some bitterness as well, mild though. Low carbonation. Long bittersweet choccolate aftertaste. plovmand (1737), Helsinge, Denmark

Flavour is at first coffee then comes the sweetness from the cocoa and light vanilla. Medium bodied. Lovely finish with the sweet cocoa mixed with the bitter roasted malt.
