Pours a nice 2 finger chocolate head. Body is pitch black in color. Head retention and lacing are good Aroma is of rich, roasted malt. Chocolate and a tiny bit of coffee are also present. Hops arent there but as beer warms the vanilla is noticed. First taste is of sweet malt. Chocolate and vanilla come in as the beer warms and compliment the beer very good. Hops are pretty muted and there is an after taste of some cold burnt coffee. Mouth feel is pretty good. Body is alittle on the light side but head adds some nice fluffiness to it. Good balance of carbonation Overall it is pretty good. Very sessionable for such a flavorful stout. Cocoa and vanilla beans really make this a unique beer. Love everything this brewery does, just wish their prices were alittle more affordable cause I can drink their stuff everyday

Poured darker than a quantum singularity. This lovely little thing sucked in all the light in the room and gave none back. A little frothy head lingered past closing time. The very scent of it sent me right back to a pastry shop. Lots of roasty toasty malts, an elbow deep armfull of chocolate and a slight hint of real vanilla beans. It went down smooth and velvety, boasting large chocolate flavours and dark dark roasted malts with just enough vanilla so as to not dominate the main flavours. Truly a fantastic beer. I love you God of the Sky!

12oz bottle (labeled Aphrodite 2009) into a pint glass. Pours solid black with a 2-finger dark milk chocolate head floating on top. The aroma is mostly chocolate with some roasted malt and a solid dose of sour stout. The flavor on this is amazing - it’s a giant mix of chocolate, coffee, stout roasted malts, vanilla, coconut, and more than I could explain without giving you a taste. This stuff is really good!

12 oz bottle - US version; pours dense black with tam head to the edges; aromas of sweet chocoalte, coffee, candy roast; once this warmed up, it was all creamy chocoalte and rich coffee; very sweet, rich and creamy; pretty damn good, but a tad sweet and not quite up to expectations

On tap at Novare Res. Pours a dark black with a little tan head. Aroma is chocolate and vanilla with a jim beam hint. Flavors are just like the aroma, tons of vanilla at work here, the chocolate dominates the aftertaste and lends a nice bitterness to this beer.

Poured very black, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roasted malts, little molasses, little nutty.

Black as sin, viscous, with just a small dark-beige head. Molasses, chocolate, very strong and sweet coffee, moccha filling with vanilla for dessert. Vanilla - definitely the beans, not the better pods - more prominent in the taste, like vanilla-aromatised truffles, bitter chocolate chocolates (pralines), with a slightly roasted hint. Café glacée cookies, retronasal some sweetish vegetable I can’t place - cooked celeriac or scorzanera? Very slick, very well-bodied, chewy, very nice texture, inciting to more. Initially the concoction seems a jumble of conflicting flavours and aromas, but stealthily, a balance creeps in, resulting in a wonderful beer. Which means that Aphrodisiaque is exactly the wrong name for it, as in love, it’s usually the other way round... Grand merci à Sylvain et sa bande, cette bière vaut vraiment sa réputation, comme la brasserie.

Bottle to help celebrate the official arrival of unspeakable cold weather here and the first good wood stove fire of winter. Aphrodite, unlike the picture on the bottle is the darkest of browns with a fluffy cocoa head and great aromas of cocoa, dark fruit and earth/peat. That said, the nose is disappointing when compared to the flavor. Rich chocolate is running wild in this one with a cream and vanilla smoothness. A bit of dark fruit is there as well, but this is fairly one-dimensional. Creamy chocolate with a smooth finish. The only thing is that it is an amazing one-dimensional beer. Worth the trouble and worth the wait.
