| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 23, 2009 This beer pours an angry dark and has a smallish medium tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, vanilla, dark fruit and a bit of smoke. It is a very pleasant aroma and I wish it was a bit more pronounced. Flavor is also chocolate and coffee dominated with vanilla. Some hops. Feel is powdery but smooth and this is a dry beer. Aftertaste is mildly bitter with cappuccino. Very nice! Nose is roast, malt, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, cherry, and depth. Flavor is the same sweeping through with Barry White’s smoothness and an awesome palate finishing with vanilla, chocolate, and fruit. Medium to full bodied and pretty darned good. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle. Silky, velvety pure black body that seems to rolls into the glass as one continuous mass that pushes and pulls at is spacial occupancy until finally settling in. Very thin, off-white head that dissipates quickly. The nose is rich and elegant with notes of vanilla beans, subtle roasted malts and rich dry cocoa powder. The flavors are spot on with the smell with silky, oily vanilla (almost caramel) and lightly toasted pecan or walnuts that give it just the slightest bitter dryness that shores up any oily feel. As this beer warms the vanilla becomes robust and the cocoa verges on a roasted espresso. Really really a great beer. Juelze (912), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
