Pours a thicker deep black pour, opaque and dark, even around the edges, with a dark brown sizable head that dies to a decent level, laces well. Aromas are fresh vanilla beans heavy, sweeter chocolate, some lighter coffee, roasted malts with a touch of char. Sweeter, but still good bitterness, rich. Very very nice. Initial is medium bodied, throwing heavy vanilla beans, fresh vanilla-like Baskin Robbins scent and flavor, darker chocolate that is smoothed out and made creamy, a bit of bittering and coffee towards the back end as more roast shows up. Full and coats the palate well flavorwise, but lighter overall in body, which is actually pretty cool, instead of being a thick cloying stout this goes back very easy. Bitterness and vanilla linger and meld on the back of the palate, further into the brew. This is a very special brew, but I’m quite the sucker for genuine vanilla appeal.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle. Silky, velvety pure black body that seems to rolls into the glass as one continuous mass that pushes and pulls at is spacial occupancy until finally settling in. Very thin, off-white head that dissipates quickly. The nose is rich and elegant with notes of vanilla beans, subtle roasted malts and rich dry cocoa powder. The flavors are spot on with the smell with silky, oily vanilla (almost caramel) and lightly toasted pecan or walnuts that give it just the slightest bitter dryness that shores up any oily feel. As this beer warms the vanilla becomes robust and the cocoa verges on a roasted espresso. Really really a great beer. Juelze (912), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Aphrodite bottle. Pours a rich black color with thick light brown frothy head. Aroma is of cocoa power, milk chocolate, vanilla, light coffee and mild hops. Taste is milk chocolate, vanilla, light roasted coffee and light hop taste. Finishes creamy and silky smooth. This is one helluva stout! sigma23 (236), , Maine, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2009 Pours a deep, rich, opaque sable with a thick, fine-bubbled, fairly persistent light tan head. Aroma is rich, smoky and oily with hints of fine coffee and molasses. Flavor is like high grade coffee with hints of unsweetened chocolate and vanilla and a whisper of sweetness. Texture is smooth and fizzy, leaving a bit of hoppy bitterness. neepsntatties (350), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 15, 2009 A 12 oz. bottle courtesy of "hannont". Colour... dark brown with no head. Nose... semi-sweet chocolate chips! I think Guittard , chocolate chips. Palate... frothy with loads of bittersweet chocolate, anise, a slightly tangy feel around the edges of the soft palate and a long bitter finish. vtafro (477), , New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2009 Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Awesome "dessert" beer. Sweet flavor and aroma however not cloying. Flavor full of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, and belgian sugars. Angelmonster (21), Colorado, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Pours a nice 2 finger chocolate head. Body is pitch black in color. Head retention and lacing are good
Aroma is of rich, roasted malt. Chocolate and a tiny bit of coffee are also present. Hops arent there but as beer warms the vanilla is noticed.
First taste is of sweet malt. Chocolate and vanilla come in as the beer warms and compliment the beer very good. Hops are pretty muted and there is an after taste of some cold burnt coffee.
Mouth feel is pretty good. Body is alittle on the light side but head adds some nice fluffiness to it. Good balance of carbonation
Overall it is pretty good. Very sessionable for such a flavorful stout. Cocoa and vanilla beans really make this a unique beer. Love everything this brewery does, just wish their prices were alittle more affordable cause I can drink their stuff everyday Bejaaamin (115), London, Ontario, Canada
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Poured darker than a quantum singularity. This lovely little thing sucked in all the light in the room and gave none back. A little frothy head lingered past closing time. The very scent of it sent me right back to a pastry shop. Lots of roasty toasty malts, an elbow deep armfull of chocolate and a slight hint of real vanilla beans. It went down smooth and velvety, boasting large chocolate flavours and dark dark roasted malts with just enough vanilla so as to not dominate the main flavours. Truly a fantastic beer. I love you God of the Sky!
