Commercial Description:
This beer style was created in the late 1990’s by some breweries on the west coast of the United States, and most notably by Rogue. It’s an extreme version of the American IPA. It’s a beer with strong amber hues and dominating hop flavours and tastes. It is however well balanced through the presence of a combination of malts. This beer is usually dry hopped, a tradition that is adhered to by Dieu du Ciel!. The bouquet of the beer consists of floral hops. In the mouth, the bitterness is quite strong, without being extreme, and the alcohol makes its presence known, without being domineering. The aftertaste is dry and less syrupy than a barley wine. Thus, it is a very complex and bitter beer, but always well balanced.

This IPA has the good flavor of citrus plus a very sweet taste, its cloudy orange color is appealing. Another great beer from the best of Montreal.

Draught, RBSG 2005. Body is hazy medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), moderately hoppy (apricot, resin, grapefruit). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Not a lot of oomph or pizazz to be found here, but it’s pleasant enough.

Partly cloudy copper body, thin white head, excellent lacing. Peppery and alcohol nose. Very hoppy but not very bitter. Pleasant warming alcohol feeling. Like many Imperial IPA the alcohol overpowers the hop finish. An solid take on the genre even if unoriginal. Very good but I think it could have been great given a bit more body and more bitter hops to counterbalance the alcohol. But I may be wrong, nobody’s perfect and it just so happens that I’m a nobody. Draft at brewpub.

En fut sur place. Ambré voilé, petit collet. Arome de malt de caramel. Très bon goût de caramel et de petit fruit amère. Et je n’ai pas encore reçu et but le DFH 90 minuts IPA de Harry

[ Bottled at the brewpub ; chilled ; bottle cond 18months, bottled sept 04 ]
Mostly diminushing average fizzy off-white head that tops up a hazy medium copper body. Small lacing. Few average size grainy particules. Bottle conditioned. Malt aroma is very light cereal while hops are flowers/piney. Grainy yeast that tasted moderate dough. Also, there are faint notes of bubble gum. Initial flavor is lighty sweet and grows stronger while leaving more space to hops. Finish is medium medium body.. oily texture... Soft carbonation..
I would believe that the beer is currently declining from aging. For a IIPA, i felt that the bitterness/hopes was a little deceiving..

A dark ruby beer with a good beige head with medium retention. Smells of hops, flowers, very floral. her taste is very floral, hoppish, with a shy bitterness, actually it is like drinking some flower. A good mouthfeel but the floral part down points in term of drinkability.

Orangeish-amber color, with a white head, flowery hops, piney note, and maybe a coniferous aroma folows through on a medium-bodied palate with a fruity, a peaches note, flowery hops, still piney, with a coniferous and resinous accent, leading towards an alcoholic hops biterness finish.
