Dieu du Ciel Charbonnière

On tap at DDC. Pours hazy copper with a medium head. No lacing. Nose is smoked and a bit metallic but not in a bad way. Taste is smoked and a bit bitter. Finish is very smokey . A bit unidimentionnal but very honest , well made and very tasty.

awesome aroma of bacon, sausages, and smoked burnt malt. Flavor is dominated by smoke, and meaty bacon flavors. This was a great smoked beer, i really enjoyed it.

Tap at DDC brewpub in Feb. 2009. Very smokey as its style suggests, but without excess, distant notes of caramel and dry fruits although not much bitterness is revealed. Very good but I’m surely biased towards the style and the brewer. But tap mouthfeel of a smoke, therefore DDC’s, is very pleasing and so easy drinking!

Dégusté à la brasserie en format de dégustation. Apparence orangé légèrement cuivré avec peu de mousse. Une arôme d’hicory très fûmé. Goût de caramel, pelure d’orange et hicory.

Tap - a phenomenal smoked beer, reminiscent of schlenkerla urbock - smooth, creamy, full mouthfeel, with a strong, but perfectly integrated smokiness, working well atop the medium sweet malt base - notes of toasted marshmallow and caramel - soft edges all around - conjures memories of campfires - sooo smoky.

Das beer ist gut. At first, the aroma of smoke is too strong but getting more complex while drinking it. Sweet caramel touch and also some hazelnuts. A great one.

On tap at Dieu Du Ciel. Pours hazy amber with two finger beige head. Aroma is of smokey peet and hickory with lots of caramel. Flavors are smokey and quite malty with many different facets and flavors from the malt character. Palate is suprisingly thick given the color of the pour. Interesting and unique.

Pours hazy copper with a nice 2 finger head, slow to dissipate. Aroma is very smoky, with peat added. Taste is incredible- reminds me of smoked salmon. Great palate, fantastic beer.
