Commercial Description:
This shimmering gold amber coloured beer has a light, smoked malt aroma. It’s well-rounded, with a great taste of malts and with a hint of sweetness. The smoky taste is quite dominant at each new draught. An original and notable beer, La Charbonnière is a house specialty.

[tap @ the brewpub] Clear amber color. Slightly sweet, mildly smokey aroma. Flavors come on first with caramel and malt sweetness, then moves into subtle campfire territory. The smoked malt seems to be just enough to lure you into the next sip- still, it remains highly drinkable. Finishes long and almost woody. A wonderful, unique brew.

Copper brownish, and relatively translucent. A very appealing stream of frothy bubbles dancing on top. <!-- br -->Very pleasing woody smoke, not at Schlenkerla levels but enough to satisfy Rauch-heads like me, without alienating those who are a bit sheepish or never been exposed to this style before. Really interesting grainy aspect to it as well, and a tiny bit ashy, but not at an unpalatable degree. <!-- br -->The smoke factor is spread out very well on the palate. It hits you solidly at first, balances out in the middle with a very solid malt structure and finishes long with hickory traces. They should brew this more often.

Là, ça c’est fumée. Couleur orangé avec un beau collet, arome légèrement sucré et fumée. Goût très fumée avec un tout petit soupson de caramel.

An amber beer with a disappearing beige head. The aroma is smokey combined with a very slight note of caramel. The flavor is also smokey, clearly from beechwood, but also with notes of caramel, and with a dry smokey end.

Tap- RBSG 05. Pours a medium amber with an ok head and some lacing. Initial aroma is of a thick sweet malt, and some smoke, with spice and caramel hints. After a while more smoke takes over the aroma and flavor. Almost becomes a bit too harsh at the end. Has that slight medicinal quality that some smoked beers get.

Amber color, off white head. Nicely balanced smoke prescence plays well with the chewy and semi sweet malts. Very light hops. Medium to light body, highly drinkable. It doesn’t bludgeon you over the head with the smoke like Schlenkerla, but it doesn’t really have to. Well done.

Draught at the brewpub
Amber color, light head, nice lacing. Nose of smoked meat, caramel malt and some crispy hops. The flavor is balanced, some nice roasty notes, not in the dark realm though. Creamy & campfireish. I had to make up my own adjectives for this one.

Red/amber and clear with a medium sized fluffy head. Nose of Toasted barley, smoked toffee, sap, butterfat, and dust. Thin on body. Nose of strawberry. Could have been smokier. Light caramel and chocolate. dry bittersweet finish.
