The aroma is smokey combined with a very slight note of caramel. The flavor is also smokey, clearly from beechwood, but also with notes of caramel, and with a dry smokey end. omhper (12283), Stockholm, Sweden

Aroma is medium sweet, delicious smoked (Gouda). Taste is medium sweet, smoke, caramel, smoked cheese. Nice smoke burp. Light-medium body. The smoke evokes Aecht Schlenkerla -- truly lovely. Good bouquet that doesnt quite reveal what you're going to taste, spices, forest. As the commercial description says : "The smoky taste is quite dominant at each new draught". We'd regret the smoky taste for long if it'd ever quit the mouth. and while it's so long-lasting, it remains comfortable and light CaptainCougar (5526), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 7, 2003 Pours a copper bronze color with a good off-white head. Aroma of hickory and alder smoke with some caramel malty undertones. Body is sweet, yet dry, and plenty smokey. Good flavor and complexity throughout. Just a step behind the Schlenkerla beers of Germany, but one of the best North American smoke beers I've had. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Nose of smoked meat, caramel malt and some crispy hops. The flavor is balanced, some nice roasty notes, not in the dark realm though. Creamy & campfireish. I had to make up my own adjectives for this one.
