Pours hazy copper with a nice 2 finger head, slow to dissipate. Aroma is very smoky, with peat added. Taste is incredible- reminds me of smoked salmon. Great palate, fantastic beer.

Aug 25, 2008 Tap - a phenomenal smoked beer, reminiscent of schlenkerla urbock - smooth, creamy, full mouthfeel, with a strong, but perfectly integrated smokiness, working well atop the medium sweet malt base - notes of toasted marshmallow and caramel - soft edges all around - conjures memories of campfires - sooo smoky.

Aug 9, 2008 Das beer ist gut. At first, the aroma of smoke is too strong but getting more complex while drinking it. Sweet caramel touch and also some hazelnuts. A great one.

Aug 3, 2008 On tap at Dieu Du Ciel. Pours hazy amber with two finger beige head. Aroma is of smokey peet and hickory with lots of caramel. Flavors are smokey and quite malty with many different facets and flavors from the malt character. Palate is suprisingly thick given the color of the pour. Interesting and unique.

Jun 1, 2008 November 2007 notes: Pours amber with small head. Aroma is very smoky, with some malts. Really interesting. Flavor is seriously smoky, maybe also some nuts. I thought that the palate of this beer suited the smokiness well: it was medium bodied with soft carbonation, just light enough to prevent the smokiness from being overbearing. Really enjoyable and unusual.
