elihapa (1028), Honolulu, California, USA Jun 1, 2008 1/18/08 notes: on tap DdC. Pours a hazy golden color, similar to wheat beers. Nose of heavy spices, wheat, and hops. Flavor filled with herbs, grain, rye and some sweetness. I felt that this intense use of spices was a bit overwhelming, but certainly not short on flavor or fullness. Very interesting overall, would try again . . . this is just a well done, spicy wheat beer. rodenbach99 (672), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada Feb 17, 2008 en fût au DDC, bière orangé, très trouble, nez d’anis frais (non pas de pastis) goût relevé d’anis, manque de coprs. agréable sans plus. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 11, 2007 Cloudy orange body topped by a long-lasting small creamy white head. Body is rather full and oily. Orange pulp flavour and ginger flavours upfront along with various herbal spices. Doughy malts/yeast. The advertised anise is there but more herbal spices flavours joinded in along the way. Hints of ginseng, coriander, nutgmeg and white not some white pepper. Interesting and different. I liked the Starry Night (Ciel Étoilé). I liked it almost as much a real starry night, when I lay in my bed looking at the beautiful stars thinking to myself, I really need to fix that roof. An interesting change, and not completely unwelcome, but it falls well short of being overwhelming. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Feb 19, 2007 [5 oz. sample @ Brewpub] Hazy, light amber color. Off white head leaves moderate lacing on the glass. Black licorice and faint hop aroma. Strong Anise flavors with a malty background. Anise really shines through in the finish, with a bit of subtle spiciness. A really unique beer-- though I’m not much of a fan of Anise/licorice, this still remains quite drinkable. GonZoBeeR (2154), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Feb 12, 2007 Aroma:anise all the way, light malty nose...
Appearance:Hazy gold-orange,light head...
