Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA May 10, 2009 Updated: Jun 3, 2009Extremely creamy and sugary IPA that had some very unusual spices. Orange peel, but sugary orange peel. Lots of sugars and the malts are huge in this one. It almost coats the mouth. Very good, and the hops are pungently bitter too, like unrefined bitter. Too bad it’s so expensive for just a 6.5% abv ipa... DalzAle (476), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA May 6, 2009 Bottle. Dark orange-brown pour, a little carbonation and an aroma that was citrus and very herbal. Flavor was very different from my everyday hop heavy IPA, very peppery, flowery and finished with some nice hops and very bitter. Way better than I expected! ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA May 3, 2009 Butters Big Blowout - Pours a cloudy dark amber with off white head. Malty caramel aroma with hint of hops. Hops comes through on this one. Medium bodied. Not bad MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA May 3, 2009 Butters’ cellar reduction blowout whatever tasting. Its been good so far. Copper color with a touch of red. Nose is of sweet caramel. Malt and hop as well. Nicely balanced aromas. Palette and flavors fall short with their intensity. Little spice just a little bitter. Pretty good. Not bad at all. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA May 3, 2009 Bottle shared at Butter’s Big Cellar Blowout. Hazy reddish amber pour with wispy white head. Sweet malty nose with a little spiciness. Flavor has hop bitterness on the finish, but malty overall. Not really what I would call an IPA. But okay i suppose. Too expensive for what it is though... Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA May 3, 2009 Bottle at Butters Big Cellar Blowout. Pours an off-white head with a copper amber body. Smells of aged spice and pine hops. Flavors of spice hops, little citrus hops, and honey-caramel. Finish is sweet and bitter. Mellow hops for what it could have been...I believe the bottle has some age. manuchampions (95), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 3, 2009 Beautiful, almost floral hop nose. Pours a copper/amber with a decent head. Lots of great grapefruit and pine in the profile but also something complex and lingering that I can’t put my finger on. Lasts a good long while on the tongue. Probably one of my favorite Canadian attempts at a U.S. style IPA. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Apr 30, 2009 Thanks to josarah for this beer. Pours a bright copper color with small head. Great nose os crisp, fresh hops...more grassy than citrusy, with some peach and apricot aromas. Good biscuit notes in the malt. Crisp, refreshing mouthfeel with good carbonation. Flavor is piney hops flavors with citrus, hibiscus and light caramel malts. Bitter finish is very pleasing. Very nice beer!
