Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Mar 10, 2009 Bottle. I think this came from Glouglouburp. Pours amber with a thin off white head. Smells of perfume, wildflowers, hay. Tastes refreshing and spicy with some peppery splashes and a nice grassy finish. Not a typical IPA, but a very enjoyable one. larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Mar 6, 2009 Bottled at Haket, Gothenburg.
Deep amber with a creamy, tan head.
Soapy, grassy, flowery aroma.
Loads of fruits and flowers in the flavour.
Balanced and late bitterness. drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Mar 1, 2009 Malty and dusty. Lots of hops and English style IPA mixed in. The wonderful brewery that isn’t cheap. But this is an nice musty beer. Citrus and caramel mixed in as well. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Mar 1, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Equal doses of hops and nast in both nose and flavor. Middle of the pack, very average IPA. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Feb 27, 2009 Pours ruddy dark gold with a generous tan head.
Ample citrus hop aroma with bready yeast and malts underneath.
Very fruity with some hop dryness in the finish. Well balanced, not overly bitter.
Very smooth and full bodied.
Nicely different! JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 27, 2009 Bottle into Sam Adams lager glass.
Pours a cloudy amber-brown, with a healthy, rocky one-finger khaki head. Nice lacing, and after the head finally settles down into a creamy cap, it doesn’t go away.
Nose is typical - some citrus mixed in with a spicy, resiny pine note, sweet caramel backing propping the whole thing up.
Taste starts off with a toasty, sweet caramel note underneath a spicy, slightly resiny hop body. Some citrus comes out more towards the finish, alongside a big dose of fruity esters, and an aspirin-like astringency that mixes oddly with a last shot of big, caramel sweetness. Finish consists of the last whispers of that caramel note, alongside a spicy bitterness that starts off heavy but fades fairly quickly. Drying. To be honest, this beer grew on me, and it’s because of the blend of American and English influences. The nose is all American, as is the sweet caramel malt body, but the actual hop character you taste - the spiciness - reminds me more of an English IPA or Pale Ale. Pulled off quite nicely. This one isn’t the giant some IPA’s are, but ends up quite drinkable and satisfying.
Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, a bit fluffy with a soft carbonation. Fred82 (344), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Feb 25, 2009 Updated: May 17, 2009341ml bottle cellar temp. Pours clear amber with huge brown head. Quite fluffy. Very nice looking. Lovely "bananorange" aroma. Hints of grapefruit also. Taste is quite hoppy with a dry finish. Hints of banana and orange as well. Quite interesting. I’m still not a huge fan of IPA though. Rating #38
