trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 22, 2009 Wow, if an actual American IPA poured like this, I’d like them even better. Deep orange with a thick, pillowy head that laces the glass beautifully. Nose is very, very sweet. Hops are there for sure, but they’re overpowered by a sort of breakfast cereal corn sweetness (think cap’n crunch). Butterscotch dominates the extremely pungent aroma. Slightly watery, and honestly - I feel like adding milk and eating it with a spoon. There’s that much of that sweet corn flavor. Hops are certainly present, but don’t play a big enough part for this to be called an IPA. Odd. Intriguing, but just odd. beerbill (1917), Laurel, New York, USA Feb 22, 2009 341 ml bottle courtesy of a trade with WeeHeavySD. Pours a hazy dark brown with a thin-moderate off-white head that faded after two sips and left very little lace. The aroma is sweet malt and overripe, actually I’ll call it rotting, fruit. A bit off-putting actually, and it had me wondering if I really wanted to take a full sip. Thankfully, the flavor is nowhere near as sweet as the aroma suggests. There is ample sweet malt up front, and this is followed by a wash of dry hops. Moderate bitterness at the finish and quite dry. Probably not something I would look to revisit. pumpmaster (473), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Feb 20, 2009 12 ounce bottle purchased at Archer Liquors in Chicago. IL for $3.99 Excellent. SuIIy (1405), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Feb 19, 2009 12oz bottle. Reddish copper color with a small tannish head that leaves a light lacing. Nose is sweet, sticky, melted caraml with a light hop bitterness. Palate is full, sticky and sharp, Flavor is caramel malts with a light hint of bitter hop note in the finish Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Feb 15, 2009 341 ml bottle. Hazy reddish brown colour. Very tall off-white head
that clings to the glass. Bold hoppy aroma with lots of sweet malts
in the nose. Almost syrupy aroma. Crisp grassy flavours balanced by
an appropriate amount of malts. Peach-like malty
flavours. Medium-bodied. Lots of flavour, but I suspect that the
beer is slightly oxidized. sirpsycho (342), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 15, 2009 Bottle at The Headkeeper. Pours a clear amber, creamy off-white head. Aroma promises hops, grapefruit, orange and subdued peach. Flavor delivers all that the aroma promised, peach, orange and grapefruit. Dry, hoppy, bitter finish. Skeets (23), Sacramento, California, USA Feb 14, 2009 11.5 oz bottle, pours dark brown with haze. My first from this brewery. Aroma of raisins and some sweet malt. Tasted like an aged IPA or Barleywine. This must have sat on the shelf for awhile? I just bought it. Not much hop at all, some bitterness. Maybe its supposed to be like this. But it’s a bit pricey ($7)for the quality. nuplastikk (1157), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Feb 6, 2009 11.5oz bottle. Thick, brown-red color. Like others have noted, this didn’t taste fresh, some off aromas and flavors sort of taint the overall effect. I am a huge fan of DdC beers and was very let down by this one. I’d expect it to be much better in Montreal. Some soapy, piny, lingering hop presence. Some amber malt tastes, and an intense amber malt aroma, give it a unique touch. Good, but not great.
