Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

341 mL. Pours a ridiculously hazy dark orange with a two-finger, rocky, tan head. Yeast particles bouncing around. Good, sheety lacing. Aroma is strawberry cheesecake, giant caramel, butterscotch. Taste is a bit bland; there is a big nutty bitterness throughout reminiscent of a stale IPA. But not much else. Very watery body. Taste is a bit sour, even a bit salty with something like a dirty martini in the finish. Would like to try this fresh.

341mL bottle from the LCBO, that would not have been at my LCBO if I hadn’t ordered them, you’re welcome KW as this is all we’re going to see of the DDC stuff. Just saying. Pours a nice darker goldish amber with a large rocky white head. The aroma smacks of American style IPA-ness, great grapefruity piney hops with some nice caramalt underneath. Flavour has a great hop bite upfront met with some good malty sweetness and then a hoppy flavoured finish and aftertaste without the same initial bitter bite. The body has a nice thicker feel to it but is still light and only has a trace of the ABV. Earthy aftertaste. Lingering flavour of awesomeness (sometimes refered to as hops). Probably the closest thing I’ve had from a Canadian brewer to a true West Coast styled IPA. Super solid beer.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass better. Darker than exspected, nice creamy head. Starts very, very hoppy, quite dry and woody. Also grasy notes. Finish a little bit floury, still flowery-hoppy, very intense. Really good!

This is a very complex and lovely IPA, it has really nice floral and perfumy notes on the nose, and a full and rich flavor and mouthfeel. It reminds me of dogfish head 90 minute without the sweetness. Very nice lacing, and pours kind of an iced tea color.

Dark amber appearance with a strong hop aroma. Full bodied. There is a strong hop flavor and a subtle malt base.

Pours dark amber with a beige head. Aroma is seriously of hops, taste is more of grass and pine with some grassy hoppy flavours. Very full bodied, powerful and delicious.

Like a lot of the Quebec IPAs this one is very malty. Yet unlike many of the others it still has the crisp flavour typical of the IPA style. Fairly bitter and the malt and hops are not quite balanced but nevertheless still a decent IPA.
