Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Thanks for this one Sean (illinismitty). Pours with a slightly cloudy, brownish-orange body topped by a think foamy head with a little lacing. It’s slihgtly bitter with grapefruity hop notes and a light, sweet maltiness. medium bodied and smooth yet warming.

Pours a hazy amber colour with a large tight off white head. Aroma is floral and citrus hop. Caramel tones underneath. Flavour is hoppy medium bitterness. A caramel and molasses malt depth through the middle palate and a slightly dry bitter finish.

Bottle from WeeHeavySD - thanks Jon! Very light and clean pale to my taste, not the red, bready malted brew I expected based on reviews. Slightly cloudy pour, filled with aromatic hops on the nose. Clean, almost papery mouthfeel with nice substantial body and a dry, grassy finish. Nothing I’d go out of my way for, given how many IPAs are available in general, but certainly quite a solid, enjoyable brew.

Pours like hazy amber with a modest head that swiftly calls it a night. Only a faint trace of lace is evident that the beer was actually poured rather than materialized. Aromas of molasses and citrus rind. Medium nectar weight with ample effers. This one calls for a defined molasses malt backdrop dragging herbs and citrus rind to the playground. The hop rate is moderate and noticeable on the finish. The molasses stains the palate and lingers. This is a very well balanced beer.

Bottle@Home. Nice typical American floral aroma. Amber color, hazy, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, floral, grassy. All the ingredients you’d expect. Light, tasteful and good balance. Yummy.

(Bottle). Citrus aroma. Dark amber color with large light tan head. Flavor is sweetish grapefruit, and some malt backbone. Not as bitter as other IPAs, and without the lengthy finish of some, but still a quality brew.

11.5oz bottle. Pours a deep, very cloudy red with highlights of amber and deep brown. The head is tan in color pours up very, very thick - but fades quickly into a thin, large-bubbled layer that leaves big spots and chunks of lace on the glass. The aroma is all IPA: a nice combination of hops, bitter citrus, and fruitiness. There is a slightly medicinal and grassy quality to the aroma, too. Hints of caramel and chocolate can be found just under the waves of hops. The flavor is well-balanced - starting off both bitter and hoppy but also quite malty with a good bit of residual sweetness, doughy breadiness, and roasted chocolatey notes. There are lots of bready notes that start tinged with caramel and end at mid-tongue tinged with chocolate. The heavy-handed caramel malts on the front end combined with the color of gravity would lead me to call this an American Amber, not an American IPA... But it is tasty. At mid-tongue, as the bitterness increases, a distinctive ester quality comes through - that tastes more like a Belgian strain than an American one (probably is given the brewer). The finish is spicy and strong with evergreen hops. The big bitterness leads to a dry and green finish. The mouthfeel is well-bubbled - light and crisp with a soft sting from carbonation. The body is medium-full and straight-forward. Overall, a very tasty beer. It is a little more interesting and better balanced than the Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA I tried last night... (I know, I know - they’re not the same style - but this one is more sublime and happens to appease my hop-head desires a little better).

Deep, clear copper pour with a foamy head that settles over time. Aroma is dominated by pine and floral hops, but there is also a good amount of roasted, nutty caramel malt. The malt comes through more in the flavor, with lots of pine and grapefruit hops balancing the sweetness. A really nicely balanced IPA. I could enjoy a few of these!
