Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Alot of sweet malt in the aroma, almost 2IPA-like. Floral, grapefruit rind hops. The flavor is rich, but much drier than he aroma.

bottle from bauer wine and spirits in boston. i didn’t expect to see anything from dieu du ciel, so this was a pleasant surprise - and the IPA aroma was also a surprise. a half mix between the brutally bitter american hops and classic british hops. not palate-bruising but certainly bitter, and far bitterer than it smells. seems that beer fans owe it to themselves to visit this brewery. green hops characteristics and perceptibly malty finish, with a pleasantly hoppy aftertaste; nice beer.

Sample at the 2008 VT Brewers Fest - Poured a cloudy dark amber in color with a medium white head. Aroma was medium of grapefruit and citrus with a hint of malty sweetness. Flavor was nice and hoppy with strong elements of citrus and pine hops. Definitely some malt underlying. Finish is long and bitter.

Bottle. Dark reddish-brown with a thin off white head. Floral hops, touch of malt, fruit and pepper. Decent dry, bitter finish. Very nice IPA.

HogTownHarrys bottle, shared with Harry and Blankboy. App: Cloudy - red grapefruit, slight white head. Aroma: Peppery IPA aroma with some banana shining through. Flavour: Sour and sweet, nice reliable IPA flavours coming through, banana again - lovely.

Bottled. Amber/burgundy coloured. Unclear. Dense ligth brown head. Aroma of pine, citrus, grass and caramel Flavour is sweet and piney. Has light fruits and a somewhat citric touch. Caramel is notable in flavour as well. Is medium bodied. Quite dry. Medium to strong bitterness in the end, but its countered well by a fresh sweetness. Very nice.

I like this beer. But I’m afraid that it comes across as an "also ran" Alpha King, at three times the price. In so many ways it was similar to FFF AK, though it seemed all around softer. Good...but when I can get a sixer of AK for the price of two of these, it’s really no competition.

Red-copper, beige head. Fruity, grassy aroma. Piney/citrus hop aroma. Sweet; medium bitterness, crystal sweetness, dry bitterness in the finish.
