holdenn (1431), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 5, 2008 12 oz bottle from WLV Liquors. Pours a hazed orange with a off white head that fades to a thin layer. Malt and floral notes constitute the greatest part of the beer. Aged caramel malts and brown sugar with floral hops that are ever so slightly soapy in the nose. The flavor profile matches the aroma. A decent amount of bitterness that carries through the finish leaving the tongue dry from the floral hops. Not bad but not that enjoyable either. Floral hops aren’t my favorite bittering hop, I think they could have done better with a different varietal. Especially if they are trying for the "American IPA". Nuffield (2718), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 4, 2008 Red beer, pretty average there. What an interesting (odd?) aroma--suggestive to me of an English bitter. Perhaps they’ve retained more elements of an English P.A. rather than an American IPA. More floral than hoppy. (on tap at Dieu du Ciel, Montreal) SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 3, 2008 12 oz. bottle - pours a clear, dark ruby red with cream head along the edges; very nice aromas of sweet, floral hops and sugary malts; bitterness comes out more on the nose more than the mouth; medium body with a nice fuzziness to the texture; bitter finish, but a smooth drinking IPA; decent enough, but pretty steep at $5+ a bottle (in WA) Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jun 2, 2008 Bottle Awesome bottle art, crap beer. Pours a dark amber body with a 3 finger off white head. Aroma is metallic and hoppy like copper. Some pine but a domineering malt character. Flavor is soapy, grape hoppiness, with a big malt character. This lingers long after on your tongue. I did not enjoy this. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 2, 2008 11.5 oz. Clear red-copper with a two-finger, creamy head that lasts. Earthy caramel, cocoa, and fruit aroma. Taste is similarly sweet but with more grain and toasted nut. Slightly bitter ending has some citrus and resin that leaves a dried wood taste on the finish. Medium body is mostly smooth and finishes dry. Very nice, but just too damn expensive in down-South retail stores ($4.50/single). Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Jun 2, 2008 Dark orange colored with cloudy appearance. Medium sized yellow head. Aroma is strongly hopped and grassy-flowery with interesting birch leaf tone, nice sweet caramel here too, I like this aroma.Medium bodied. Flavor is also rich with same flowery tone, caramel and lemon come up too. Excellent IPA with decent ABV. msante79 (778), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA May 30, 2008 Smells like an IPA, looks like an IPA, but tasted like a metalic regular pale ale. Very disapointing as this beer smells beautiful with piney hops, citrus and caramel. Nice dark copper color with off white head. The taste unfortunatly dpes not match the aroma. It tastes like an IPA but hops are just missing.
