Sweet waxy malt, honey, and very fresh grapefruit hop aroma. First taste is honey, grapefruit and a little bit salty. Finishes with quite a bit of dark caramel malt, honey and pine. A very rich bold malt. Trademark Dieu du Ciel spiciness. Medium light bodied, lots of smoother carbonation. [anything garlic pairs well with this] argo0 (6890), Washington DC, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2008 (33cl bottle) Small beige head atop clear, dark amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange/floral, caramel, some grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit/orange, some caramel, nectarine/mango, light bread. Soft medium body with light acidity. Seems more like a hoppy amber than an IPA, though it’s quite tasty however it’s categorized. TBone (6741), Pori, Finland

Clear amber color, small beige head, lace. Piney, ryeish fruity hoppy nose. Pale malty, very bready hoppy, bitter flavor. Very IPA-like, malty pale ale. Long bitter aftertaste. jazz88 (2236), San Francisco, California, USA

This is a definite malt balanced IPA, going for a good flavor rather than eccentric bitterness, its very easy drinking and goes down smooth with some cararmel and light bitterness in the end... leaves almost no aftertaste.... not bad. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 20, 2008 Bottle. EPA-ish aroma: light crystal malt and perhaps some lime-y hops. The flavor has grapefruit nuances but this is primarily a malty IPA. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2008 Umm, malty IPA, I really enjoy these. The maltier start gives a warm toasted caramel flavor that gives you more then just a soapy citrus IPA. The heavier malts allow the hops to not get to sharp, very good pairing of flavors with a solid citrus finish. Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2008 Deep translucent orange to red brown pour with big fluffy cream colored head. Sticky lacing leaves distinct rings around the glass with each sip. Caramelly roasty malts are very forward along with a rich resinous hop character. Both richly sweet and piercingly hoppy aroma at the same time. Underlying hints of raisin and vanilla add more complexity. Initial sip is incredibly bitter, somewhat astringently so. Flavor is very piney masking the complex malts that I sensed in the nose. This is pretty straight forward and is a bit of a dissapointment after the excitment of the initial aromas. Finish is kind of soapy leaving an oily finish on the tongue, again very piney. As the palate adjusts the malts make a soft but noticable presence, still very occluded by the strong piney hops... did I use piney enough in this rating?
