Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Cloudy orangish color. Aroma has fruit, bread and grassy/citrus hops. Flavor it bitter but very smooth. I get some floral hops with a hint of citrus. Interesting take on an American IPA.

33cl btl. from ølbutikken. no best before stamp on the label, but the last year printed is 09. tasted jan.13.2009. hoppy, faint peachy, aroma, slightly mouldy. appears cloudy orange with small floaties. was a little alive when opened, some foam came out by itself. flavor is hoppy, but also slightly mouldy. sawdust. slightly watery. strange almost a little sour note in the flavor. i will probably rerate when i find a bottle that is with a best before date.

Big light brown head. Hazy translucent red-brown body. Syrupy intense fruity malty aroma with paper notes, a bit cloying. Intense dry-sweet peppery grassy tropical fruit taste, somewhat papery. Light, mild mouthfeel. Dry straw and grass aftertaste with chalky roasty notes. (0.341l bottle, Ølbutikken, København.)

Zipps tasting, Fall 2008. Hop aroma and flavor. Citrus and malt base. The hops are definitely dominant. Flavor has citrus, grapefruit and orange, and some pine, almost sweet, candy-like flowers.

Bottled. Very hazy amber appearance with a rich fluffy white foam. Floral hops, caramel, pine-apples, white bread and herbs. Malty flavour (for the style) of caramel, flowers, soap, mint and grass. Clean mouthfeel. Medium bitter finish of grapefruit, flowers, caramel and blood oranges.

Bottle. Rich copper-amber beer with a nice dark cream coloed head. Grapefruit and caramel aroma with a bit of summer fruit and woodsiness. Nice grapefruit, pine, woodsy flavor with backing malt. Nice bitterness. Grapefruit, pine, caramel lingers. More to it than a pure PNW hop bomb. Tea or maybe begemot starts to show up and really come forward as you drink more.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber color with a thin white head. The aroma reveals a megaton of oranges with very floral hops, I smell happiness ! The flavor is excellent also, again the orange is omnipresent with great floral hops, malt and a lovely bitter finish. The body has a light to medium thickness with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. Woof, excellent, way better than before. (Previous rating : 6/4/7/3/13 3.3)

Bottle. Aroma has caramel and toffee malts, citric hops with pines. Hazy, amber-orange coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is caramel sweet and has a piney hopbitter end. Though there are a lot of malts, the beer is still relative crisp. Good one.
