Rings of lacing on the glass. Hoppy aroma with notes of citrus and bready malt. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with citrusy hops, malt and touches of grain. The finish is resiny hops with a lingering bitterness left over. Straightforward and good IPA through and through. Glouglouburp (2887), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 9, 2006 Updated: Nov 5, 2007In short: World-class IPA. Very resinous and tasty.
How: Bottle and tap many many times
The look: Clear glowing copper body with a large creamy beige head.
In long: This one is mainly about the hops. Very resinous, pine-tree, floral elements, some orange peels. The beer has very little apparent sweetness but does not feel unbalanced at all. The body is full and very malty, just not very sweet to the tongue. Tropical fruits and earthy tree barks complete the flavour spectrum. Strong resinous bitterness. Thick oily body. One of my favourite below 7% hop-fix. Very tasty. My love for this beer is like pi - natural, irrational, and very important. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 4, 2006 Leafy green hops aroma, a la west coast, opaque copper, small custard head. Taste is a big hops start, malt balances this so well, chewy, sticky, full bodied, wonderfully bitter, extremely well balanced. Fabulous! Ibrew2or3 (2841), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA

The aroma has semi sweet roasty malts with a bit of sticky chewy-ness and pine hops. The taste starts tart moving into full boil pine hop bitterness. Yum. It then becomes more and more roasty as the malts well up creating a malty roasty finish to nearly equal the intensity of the pine hops. after4ever (2840), Brier, Washington, USA

Big perfumey floral hoppy nose. Smells like garden flowers as much as hop flowers--so perfumey! Medium body with very present carb. Rich caramel on the mid-palate, along with plenty of piney hops. Long piney finish. Tonight we sampled probably the driest IPA I’ve ever actually enjoyed, and this, which is probably the sweetest, perfumiest IPA I’ve had. This is a good one, but at this level of sugary floral aromatics, it can’t really cross over into awesomeness. That’s fine, because someone needs to be out here occupying this "sweetest good IPA ever" square on the map, and who better than Dieu du Ciel? beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2008 Umm, malty IPA, I really enjoy these. The maltier start gives a warm toasted caramel flavor that gives you more then just a soapy citrus IPA. The heavier malts allow the hops to not get to sharp, very good pairing of flavors with a solid citrus finish. riversideAK (2803), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2008 Aroma of lots of caramel and toasted malts. The hops smell earthy and floral with light hints of pine and citrus. Darker than most, burnt orange more or less with a great lasting head and fantastic lacing. Lots of malt headed towards the toasty side for the most part. The hops follow through and are floral and citrusy, but not too bitter or over the top. I’m pretty sure my bottle was a touch oxidized, as the hops weren’t as vibrant as I thought, but it was still a good drinking ale. TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

(Rating #302)
