Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Beautiful amber hue with a long-lasting head. Cakey, yeasty, earthy nose was very inviting. Gave it another point for its sticky, foamy lace. Nice texture; not too heavy. Malts were complex and well rounded. Aromas of fruit (pear and apple) really gave it some depth. Balanced bitterness, along with some hop aromas, brought it all together. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. It was bold yet pleasant.

Bottle, courtesy of Parksy. Pours a dark burnt orange colour, slightly hazy, with a robust long-lived off-white head. Big aromas and flavours of sweet toffee malts and aggressive citrus-oil and resin hop character. Chewy, full-bodied, mouth-filling, with flavour and character in abundance. My new favourite Canadian IPA.

Pours semi-opaque, a deep reddish-orange similar in hue to an overripe papaya. A slight but nice-looking head. Gorgeous, sublime mouthfeel. Chewy. Everything is in the right place at the right time. Balanced. A little perfumy but not soapy. Hopped up nose.
re-rate. Deep red-brown amber. Rich but mellow hoppy nose is earthy. Soft, gentle carbonation. Robustly earthy. Filled with trees, leaves, and roots. Nuanced, complex. Whispers of flowers. 8-3-8-4-14

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of hops, nuts, wood, chocolate malts, caramel, and resin. Poured dark amber in color with a large, creamy, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Sparkling. Good lacing. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of hops, malts, caramel, resin, wood, and more hops. I do not detect the pine that most people seem to taste in this beer. Medium body. Chalky texture. Soft to average carbonation. Dry hoppy finish.

You know what I think is overrated? balalnce. When I hear people talk about a balance in beer as some sort of holy grail, I usually have to strain to keep from rolling my eyes and think to myself that balance usually means boring. That being said, this was a perfect balanced beer, with a sturdy malt base - a lot of chocolat eand caramel paired with a solid grapefruity hop that remains in sync from the first sip to the finish. And the beer continues to reveal new flavors as it warms - some smoke, some citrus. Really nice stuff.

Red beer, pretty average there. What an interesting (odd?) aroma--suggestive to me of an English bitter. Perhaps they’ve retained more elements of an English P.A. rather than an American IPA. More floral than hoppy. (on tap at Dieu du Ciel, Montreal)

341ml bottle from HogtownHarry! Nose of sweetness, flowery and light piney hops, and caramel; copper with a big off-white head; flavor is hop bitterness, pine, with some balancing, lightly sweet caramel. Finish is light bitterness! Pretty good IPA!

The aroma is hoppy and floral with caramel and malt. The appearance is amber with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall this is a nice beer.
