Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Pour is hazed dark orangey amber with a thin dense tan head...smell is hoppy with some resin and grapefruit and a hint of toastiness...taste is lightly sweet with caramel at first, then a nice citric bitterness builds...a nice hint of breadcrumb sweetness in the finish....nice...

12oz bottle, thanks to toncatcher for the extra. bottle marked 10/07. pours golden-amber with creamy white head. nose isn’t much but some citrus and slight toffee. flavor has citrusy, caramel, earthy, and some toasted malts. smooth full body. this is clearly not as hoppy as i was expecting but still tasty. more like an APA. perhaps this bottle was handled poorly or they have consistency issues because this bottle was not a west coast hop bomb like other reviews would suggest. good thing i have another bottle coming to re-rate.

Very bitter but tolerble and very aromatic.Good foam with a copper orange colour. NIce aftertaste. HAd it on cask too, but I will no enter the polemic. I preffered the one on cask, the foam was bubbly and the colour was paler. The taste was a little sweeter.

Bottle. A cloudy orange amber color with an off-white head. A citrus and fruity hop aroma. Earthy, pine, and caramel with a nice bitter finish. Well balanced.

0.34 l bottle at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Amber color with creamy head. Sweet aroma with thick flowery, lemony, piney and grassy hops. Bittersweet honeyish, grassy and hoppy flavor with fruity-lemony hops and hint of soap. A bit too sweet and soapy for me. This one did not taste very fresh.

Cask at Mondial 2005. Very floral, orangey aroma with a nice floral bouquet. Smells like Simcoe and or Amarillo might be in this guy. Smells yummy whatever it is. Transparent copper/amber color with a frothy big-bubbled off-white/light tan head. Slightly citrusy to start with a bit of sweetness. Middle is creamy finishing a more bitter hopped flavor. Not bad, but I could use some more malts.

Bottle. Luscious, really overpoweringly fragrant hoppy scent, lovely flowers and lychee, pine, orange, grapefruit and thick caramel. Ruby-amber pour with a beige/lightly tanned head. Light body is extremely bitter but manageable enough to quickly come back for a second sip. Taste is out-and-out crackery, with a little funk and more citrus. There’s an herbal note off to the side, the earthy/flowery caramel remains, but the floral fruit has largely subsided. Pine also trailed off a bit, but there’s a bergamot note there that’s just exquisite. To echo some of the sentiments expressed below, great hop profile but disappointingly lightweight.
