Flavor is very woodsy, maybe some Centennial or Chinook, some lemon. Pretty pure & raw and quite nice and impressive. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Pour is a copper with an average white head. Aroma is a very nice floral hop. Flavor is again heavy on the hops with some caramel malts showing up at the end. Pretty straight forward and tasty IPA. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2008 33 ml bottle, many thanks to sloth! Pours a mostly clear mahogany amber color with a moderate sized, somewhat foamy beige head that leaves nice lace. Caramelly and toasty malts, with nice floral and lightly resiny hops. Hop forward flavors, with the toasty, biscuity and somewhat fruity malts evident, brash citrus and pine notes give way to a lingering astringent finish. Medium body and crisp, prickly carbonation. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 30, 2008 Thin head which dissipates quickly. Sweet caramelly aroma with some very nice florals hops, roasted grains and tea leaves. Color is a hazy crimson brown. Wow, big time floral notes in the flavor along with a strong roastyness and bitter tea flavors. Lively in the mouth and a slight alcohol presence. Lingering bitterness and roastyness. An ok IPA but not really to my liking. rederic (1815), montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2005 Deep copper color, with a creamy tan-colored head, with leafy, grassy, piney, hop flower aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with an hoppy accent, leafy, piney, citrus hops, leading to a very hop bittering finish. A very nice i.p.a. thornecb (1805), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 26, 2008 Pours deep amber into an English pint. Fluffy mocha head with excellent retention does not recede. Sweet pine and resin aromas. Dark caramel upfront with a sticky middle and a lasting resin finish. Full bodied and delicious. illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2008 Bottle from jjpm74, as a bonus!!! Thanks John, I was too cheap to pick this up in PA. Pours a hazy amber orange with retentive off white head. Aroma of citrus (lemon, orange, tangerine) with some caramel malts hiding in the background. Medium bodied with an organic/earthy texture. Flavor of caramel, toasted malt, and wet grains that is countered by a huge, puckering grapefruit rind bitterness that carries through to the finish and lingers. Lots of dry hopping on this one,. An interesting take on the style and way out of balance as far as hops go- but I love hops so I don’t mind. Cheapdark would absolutely hate this stuff. JCB (1791), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Bottle from WeeHeavySD - thanks Jon! Very light and clean pale to my taste, not the red, bready malted brew I expected based on reviews. Slightly cloudy pour, filled with aromatic hops on the nose. Clean, almost papery mouthfeel with nice substantial body and a dry, grassy finish. Nothing I’d go out of my way for, given how many IPAs are available in general, but certainly quite a solid, enjoyable brew.
