Pours a murky light brown with a huge, thick foamy tan head that subsides fairly quickly. Aroma of rich caramel malt, bitter hops, light citrus, and coffee grounds. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, iced tea, and slightly hoppy finish. Nice malty IPA. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Hazy reddish-brown with a broken thin white head. Mild grassy hop aroma - very faint overall. Grassy hop taste with biscuity malts, but very little richness present here, and quite plain overall. Basic. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 3, 2009 11.5 oz bottle purchased at Ramsey Liquors, NJ. Pours a muddy dark bronze with a medium manilla head. Herbal, woody, grassy pine hop nose with caramel. Flavor has a heavy toffee presence then a big dose of piney US hops then orange/grapefruit. The bitterness is quite prominent but not harsh. Lingering woody bitter finish. The body is full and round with soft carbonation. Enjoyable, but I would have preferred less woodiness/toffee. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2005 Nice copper body topped with a thin off-white creamy head. Good malty aroma with hoppy, roasty and woody notes. Taste is dominated by robust hoppy flavors. There are also some spicy notes. Has a long and strongly bitter finish. Pretty nice stuff! 17thfloor (1504), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 22, 2008 Pours a dark reddish brown with big carbonation bubbles and a medium off-white froth on top. Sweet waxy malt, honey, and very fresh grapefruit hop aroma. First taste is honey, grapefruit and a little bit salty. Finishes with quite a bit of dark caramel malt, honey and pine. A very rich bold malt. Trademark Dieu du Ciel spiciness. Medium light bodied, lots of smoother carbonation. [anything garlic pairs well with this] shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 19, 2009 12oz bottle from BOTW. Pours a bright amber-orange with a nice head of creamy white lace that clings to the glass. Aroma is hoppy, but restrained. There is plenty of caramel here. The caramel is almost toasted in character - really nice. Flavors are well blended and artistically done. The malts are quality and really well developed. The hops are clearly west-coast. Well done IPA. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2008 Bottle, for breakfast, during EBF 2008, Copenhagen. Slightly hazy deep amber look and a solid US pale ale taste. My notes say "too goddamn early to write good notes". dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 19, 2008 11.5 oz bottle from tytoanderso, thanks Tyler. Pours a slightly murky brown with a foamy off white/light beige head. Not sure if this one is old or if the hops in this are just subdued but either way they sure are taking a back seat to the malts. Aroma of caramel and toffee and to a lesser extent some grapefruit citrus hops. Slightly syrupy body with a light bitter finish. Flavor has lots of bread and caramel with only slight citrus rind. Funny thing is although this was no hop bomb it sure started growing on me by the end, sort of like a wart on your thumb but in a good way.
