Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

12 oz bottle from WLV Liquors. Pours a hazed orange with a off white head that fades to a thin layer. Malt and floral notes constitute the greatest part of the beer. Aged caramel malts and brown sugar with floral hops that are ever so slightly soapy in the nose. The flavor profile matches the aroma. A decent amount of bitterness that carries through the finish leaving the tongue dry from the floral hops. Not bad but not that enjoyable either. Floral hops aren’t my favorite bittering hop, I think they could have done better with a different varietal. Especially if they are trying for the "American IPA".

[on cask] Hazy, pale ale colour with a bubbly, beer engine head that lasted and made nice lace. The aroma is typical US hops, but very fresh and with a hint of caramel. Flavour follows the aroma well with a not overwhelming blast of pine and citrus hops followed by some caramel/toffee malt and then a nice amount of bitterness. Perhaps just a tad astringent. Medium body and low carbonation.

bottle, from Sams quikstop or bluelight. Good aroma, sweet, bready, nutty, citrus, cardboard. Hazed brownish orange color, small head that stayed as a ring, minor lacing on the way down. Bitter sweet flavor, a sour bitter with hints of citrus, little tobacco. medium body creamy mouth feel, bitter dry finish. Good, aroma had some nice range. flavor was more straight forward.

Bottle. Aroma of earthy malt with nearly-burnt bread, coffee, toffee, dried fig. Tropical fruits poke through from time to time. Flavor a complex blend of bitter notes (grapefruit, pine) with distinctly sweet notes (passion fruit and other sweet fruits) along with that rich, earthy malt that dominates the nose for me. Very nice brew.

341 ml bottle. Hazy reddish brown colour. Very tall off-white head that clings to the glass. Bold hoppy aroma with lots of sweet malts in the nose. Almost syrupy aroma. Crisp grassy flavours balanced by an appropriate amount of malts. Peach-like malty flavours. Medium-bodied. Lots of flavour, but I suspect that the beer is slightly oxidized.

12 oz. bottle - pours a clear, dark ruby red with cream head along the edges; very nice aromas of sweet, floral hops and sugary malts; bitterness comes out more on the nose more than the mouth; medium body with a nice fuzziness to the texture; bitter finish, but a smooth drinking IPA; decent enough, but pretty steep at $5+ a bottle (in WA)
