Lots of caramel in the aroma, with a dose of pine. The bitterness is all up front in this one with a sweet lasting caramel finish. A solid IPA but I’d like it to be a little hoppier. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2008 Pours a decent copper hue with full creamy head. The nose is quite floral hops. The flavor falls short and is a bit below average. More bitterness than anything without balance. SuzyGreenberg (1368), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2008 12 oz. bottle - pours a clear, dark ruby red with cream head along the edges; very nice aromas of sweet, floral hops and sugary malts; bitterness comes out more on the nose more than the mouth; medium body with a nice fuzziness to the texture; bitter finish, but a smooth drinking IPA; decent enough, but pretty steep at $5+ a bottle (in WA) JohnnyJ (1321), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 15, 2008 Pours a deep amber with nice off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is very nice, caramel malt, piney hops, citrus, grapefruit, very well done aroma for an american style IPA. The flavor however was weaker and the body was slightly watery. Well balanced IPA and fairly complex, just a little weak on the palate. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark

Bottle from Dépanneur Rahman. Pours a lightly hazy crimson brown amber with a medium large tanned beige head that fades down to lace steadily. Light citrus and pine hops, a ton of malt, and a touch of barleywine style decomposing fruit…no way to judge the age on this… I’ve had it about 3 months (whoops), but it could have been sitting in the store for days, or a year… no way to tell. Flavor is malty. Medium bodied. Finishes with a big grapefruit note, and a bit more barleywine style fruit. Tasty, but I’d really like to try it fresh on tap. Next trip perhaps.
