Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Rather dark for an IPA. Fairly large tan head at first that sort of goes away after a minute. Lots of caramel in the aroma, with a dose of pine. The bitterness is all up front in this one with a sweet lasting caramel finish. A solid IPA but I’d like it to be a little hoppier.

Pours a decent copper hue with full creamy head. The nose is quite floral hops. The flavor falls short and is a bit below average. More bitterness than anything without balance.

12 oz. bottle - pours a clear, dark ruby red with cream head along the edges; very nice aromas of sweet, floral hops and sugary malts; bitterness comes out more on the nose more than the mouth; medium body with a nice fuzziness to the texture; bitter finish, but a smooth drinking IPA; decent enough, but pretty steep at $5+ a bottle (in WA)

Pours a deep amber with nice off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is very nice, caramel malt, piney hops, citrus, grapefruit, very well done aroma for an american style IPA. The flavor however was weaker and the body was slightly watery. Well balanced IPA and fairly complex, just a little weak on the palate.

Bottle from Dépanneur Rahman. Pours a lightly hazy crimson brown amber with a medium large tanned beige head that fades down to lace steadily. Light citrus and pine hops, a ton of malt, and a touch of barleywine style decomposing fruit…no way to judge the age on this… I’ve had it about 3 months (whoops), but it could have been sitting in the store for days, or a year… no way to tell. Flavor is malty. Medium bodied. Finishes with a big grapefruit note, and a bit more barleywine style fruit. Tasty, but I’d really like to try it fresh on tap. Next trip perhaps.

HogTownHarrys bottle, shared with Harry and Blankboy. App: Cloudy - red grapefruit, slight white head. Aroma: Peppery IPA aroma with some banana shining through. Flavour: Sour and sweet, nice reliable IPA flavours coming through, banana again - lovely.
