Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Toffee colored, sticky head. Caramel & earthy hops. Little metallic, older bottle and more malt forward now.

Bottle from Dépanneur Rahman. Pours a lightly hazy crimson brown amber with a medium large tanned beige head that fades down to lace steadily. Light citrus and pine hops, a ton of malt, and a touch of barleywine style decomposing fruit…no way to judge the age on this… I’ve had it about 3 months (whoops), but it could have been sitting in the store for days, or a year… no way to tell. Flavor is malty. Medium bodied. Finishes with a big grapefruit note, and a bit more barleywine style fruit. Tasty, but I’d really like to try it fresh on tap. Next trip perhaps.

Malty and dusty. Lots of hops and English style IPA mixed in. The wonderful brewery that isn’t cheap. But this is an nice musty beer. Citrus and caramel mixed in as well.

12oz bottle. Copper color with an off-white head. Equally hoppy and malty aroma. Flavor is very much the same. Good IPA.

Bottle. Pours hazy caramel, off white head. Aroma is tangy dried fruit and grassy. Flavor is malty and hoppy: graham cracker, citrus, and honey dough. A bit too doughy for me.

Thanks to josarah for this beer. Pours a bright copper color with small head. Great nose os crisp, fresh hops...more grassy than citrusy, with some peach and apricot aromas. Good biscuit notes in the malt. Crisp, refreshing mouthfeel with good carbonation. Flavor is piney hops flavors with citrus, hibiscus and light caramel malts. Bitter finish is very pleasing. Very nice beer!

11.5oz bottle. Thick, brown-red color. Like others have noted, this didn’t taste fresh, some off aromas and flavors sort of taint the overall effect. I am a huge fan of DdC beers and was very let down by this one. I’d expect it to be much better in Montreal. Some soapy, piny, lingering hop presence. Some amber malt tastes, and an intense amber malt aroma, give it a unique touch. Good, but not great.
