Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Bottle. Pours hazy caramel, off white head. Aroma is tangy dried fruit and grassy. Flavor is malty and hoppy: graham cracker, citrus, and honey dough. A bit too doughy for me.

Thanks to josarah for this beer. Pours a bright copper color with small head. Great nose os crisp, fresh hops...more grassy than citrusy, with some peach and apricot aromas. Good biscuit notes in the malt. Crisp, refreshing mouthfeel with good carbonation. Flavor is piney hops flavors with citrus, hibiscus and light caramel malts. Bitter finish is very pleasing. Very nice beer!

Pours a murky orangish amber with a big two-finger head that lingers a while leaving good lacing. Aroma is big on light hops in the form of lemongrass and hints of pine and grapefruit. There is also a bit of bready malts in the background. Taste is big on hops up front, both citrus and floral, but with an interesting spicy kick with caramel malts. The hops come back to give a good hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is excellent, creamy and with strong carbonation. This is an interesting and tasty take on an IPA.

A - hops are clear and abudant. traces of raisins, light fruits, faint whiff of cinnamon 7+ V - large bubble head about one finger in depth, copper red in hue, prominent lacing 4 T - spicy bite to it, stronger cinnamon which fades into a bitter hop blend, bitter sticks around 6 P - somewhat creamy, but the residual taste is flat and dull 2 O - fine enough, but I do not find much to make this stick out amongst other IPAs

Mondial de la Bière de Montréal 2005. Cask. Wow! Houblon résineux. Corps en évidence. Crémeuse. Beau collet en dentelle qui persiste.

Deep orange with a half-inch white head. Hoppy nose full of grapefruit. Flavor is soft and hoppy: grapefruit and pine over malt. Nice alcohol warmth. Very good.

(11.5 oz. bottle from 1828 Vintage House) Pours cloudy amber with three fingers of lightly amberish biege head. Initial aroma of grapefruit and pine. As head recedes there is vanilla and caramel. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth and provides a decent amount of texture for the style. Feels unfiltered. Lots of broken lightly foamy patchy lacing. Tastes sweet and bitter. Caramel and vanilla overlain by pine and grapefruit. Lightly flowery and a bit of fruit. And was there just a hint of spiciness in the finish? Lightly bitter aftertaste on the tongue. Pretty good straightforward IPA. I usually don’t comment on the price but $5.99/bottle?! Ouch.

Deep, clear copper pour with a foamy head that settles over time. Aroma is dominated by pine and floral hops, but there is also a good amount of roasted, nutty caramel malt. The malt comes through more in the flavor, with lots of pine and grapefruit hops balancing the sweetness. A really nicely balanced IPA. I could enjoy a few of these!
