Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Bottled sample. Deep orange and somewhat muddy in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of pine sap, white grapefruit peel, and some mild caramel. Begins slightly abrasive in the mouth with lots of wood, tannic tea, and dried leaf notes. Some honey-sweet malts and citrus notes achieve somewhat of a balance before the finish. Medium bodied. Skewed a bit too much towards the wood-like and not enough towards the citrusy hop elements.

Bottle. Hazy amber colour with large creamy white fully lasting head. Hoppy aroma with notes of flowers. Bitter flavor and finish. Creamy palate.

Bottle from WLV. Nose is citrusy and floral. Deep red amber. Taste is sweet and fruity with a clean bitter finish. Not exactly where I’d expect a NW IPA, but still comes across as a very nice IPA on all counts. Nice.

Crushed with Jakebra. Equal doses of hops and nast in both nose and flavor. Middle of the pack, very average IPA.

Really enjoyed this one, eh!!! The beer was a beautiful burnt orange with an off-white head. The foam wasn’t as tightly packed as I would have liked. Aroma is floral, with grapefruit and bright citrus. Flavor is sharp but balanced...nice touch of honey to add that needed sweetness. Better than expected!!!

12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep dark amber color with a medium sized lasting beige head. The aroma is a fairly heavy dose of sweet fruity hops with a bit of malt to back everything up. The flavor opens with nice citrus hops with an emphasis on orange and grapefruit. There is caramel malt to back up and somewhat balance the hops. The fruitiness disappears by the end giving way to a more general bitterness. Medium bodied and very drinkable.

picked up a bottle at Brawley’s in Charlotte, NC. poured a dark amber with a two finger khaki head, fading quickly and leaving decent lacing as I work my way down the glass. aroma of sweet caramel with some citrus, piney hops. flavors are a mix of toasted malts with more citrusy hops. finish is more sweet than hoppy bitterness. decent IPA, but no way is it worth the $4.99/11.5 oz. bottle!

12 oz. twist off bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a hazy amber color, with a sticky tan colored head. Aromas are strictly high alpha American hops. Some malts try to break thru, but not much luck there. Flavors are mostly American hops, with a weak, watery malt backbone. Burning alcohol in the mouthfeel. Not balanced by any means.
