Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

bottle from bauer wine and spirits in boston. i didn’t expect to see anything from dieu du ciel, so this was a pleasant surprise - and the IPA aroma was also a surprise. a half mix between the brutally bitter american hops and classic british hops. not palate-bruising but certainly bitter, and far bitterer than it smells. seems that beer fans owe it to themselves to visit this brewery. green hops characteristics and perceptibly malty finish, with a pleasantly hoppy aftertaste; nice beer.

Pours amber with a half inch beige head and a piney hop aroma. Flavor is sweet up front with a bitter hop assault and dry finish.

Sample at the 2008 VT Brewers Fest - Poured a cloudy dark amber in color with a medium white head. Aroma was medium of grapefruit and citrus with a hint of malty sweetness. Flavor was nice and hoppy with strong elements of citrus and pine hops. Definitely some malt underlying. Finish is long and bitter.

Poured from an 11.5oz bottle and served in a shaker. This IPA poured a mostly clear amber with a thick, frothy, beige head. Excellent retention and heavy lacing. The aroma of the beer was made up of oranges, grapefruit rind, lightly toasted caramel, and a hint of earthy yeast. The flavor was mildly bitter and full of bright citrus notes. Fairly sweet. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. Maybe a little light on the hops for my liking, but still a decent IPA.

Pours a copperish color. Aroma is fresh grapefruit and rich caramel malt. Taste is grapefruit and light floral hops. with a bit of earthiness. Mild carbonation. Another non-American IPA that pales into comparison of what a traditional American IPA is.

Just tortured myself and Leah by watching David Garrett - the worst thing I’ve ever seen on PRB - how can one say that with the quality programing they put out?
Poured out a nice thick tan cap that really sticks like mad to the glass. Damn, this is a very dark IPA, hazy as all git out (hahahah! take away my medication!) but still in the orangy category. Straight up aroma - sweet tangerines, grapefruit, weak spice, not-sweet caramel malt and resin. The taste is very west coast. Tons of citrus (GF mainly, lychee, orange), crushing bitterness hides some of the quieter flavours, backbone of caramel malt, some pepper maybe. Almost medium bodied. Bitter throughout. Good finish on every sip with a touch of fruit that lingers. Good stuff but nothing to sell your kids on the Black Market for.

Pours deep amber with a creamy off white head. Aroma ozone, citric hop with a bit of caramel. Well balanced. Big old grapefruit trying to claw its way out of my glass. Salt, malt liqour, Rosemary pine flavours. Finish is wonderfully dry. Great stuff.
