Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Bottle shared by mmtmatrix. A pretty nice surprise. Poured a nice copper color with a moderate off-white head that left some lacing. Aroma of flowery, earthy hops with some light citrus undertones. Moderate bitter, earthy entry leads into an earthy, flowery hop hit with some light citrus on the finish. Full on the palate with a nice bitter dryness. Nice.

Another old rating. Aroma was of some citrus hops and a little biterness to this one. A solid beer but not that great of an IPA.

I like this beer. But I’m afraid that it comes across as an "also ran" Alpha King, at three times the price. In so many ways it was similar to FFF AK, though it seemed all around softer. Good...but when I can get a sixer of AK for the price of two of these, it’s really no competition.

Bottle Pours a lightly hazy amber with a decent white head. The head leaves swiftly. Produces okay lacing. Has a good aroma, plenty of caramel malts, with a good amount of hops. Has a good carbonation. A nice mouthfeel. The flavor is very well balanced. Starts of with sweet malts then hits you with good bitter hoppiness. Has a medium body and a dry texture. A good strong finish with a nice aftertaste. This is a delight to drink. Packs a lot of flavors but holds style.

341 mL. Pours a ridiculously hazy dark orange with a two-finger, rocky, tan head. Yeast particles bouncing around. Good, sheety lacing. Aroma is strawberry cheesecake, giant caramel, butterscotch. Taste is a bit bland; there is a big nutty bitterness throughout reminiscent of a stale IPA. But not much else. Very watery body. Taste is a bit sour, even a bit salty with something like a dirty martini in the finish. Would like to try this fresh.

THOUGHTS: Nice beer, but I was expecting much more from this one. I’ve heard good thins about the brewery and this my first sample. It seemed to have qualities of both British and American IPAs. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a reddish, brownish, orange with a large, off-white head that mostly diminished, but left good lacing. The aroma was moderate molasses and caramel malts, moderate resin, grapefruit and orange hops, light to moderate earthy yeast, brown sugar and light band-aid. The flavor was caramel malt, earthiness, tea, citrus (orange and grapefruit) hops, pine and resin then metallic hops, finishing with a long duration. The medium body was sorta syrupy and sticky on the lips, but more oily really with soft carbonation and a metallic and moderate tho heavily astringent finish.

Rating number 500. Dark amber pour with excellent one finger off white head. Very nice lacing. Aroma is grapefruit and grassy notes with some floral characteristics as well. Quite pronounced and multi-faceted in its hop character. Sweet malt comes through to create a nice balance, but only barely. Flavor is an excellent balance of bready and caramel malts, with a powerful kick of grassy and floral hops. Citrus character is not as pronounced, but is still noticeable. Full bodied palate with mild carbonation and a surprising cream like texture. Very well put together. An excellent example of a great style.

reddish brown with nice off-white head. nice hoppy nose. flavor of some crystal malt, some nice hop bitterness with some huge flavor that is straight cascade, which obviously is nice, but adding a few different hop aspects would make the beer more complex and memorable. very good ipa though
