Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Bottle (34 cl) at Bishops Arms, Göteborg, Sweden. Clear deep mahogny, rich beige head. Malty and caramelly, with pinye and citric hops, and with some dark berries. Medium bodied and smooth. Well balanced with a lingering soft bitterness. Very nice.

[cask] Hazy copper color, with plenty of floating particulates, and a perfect sized, coarse, tan head. Excellent retention all the way down the glass. Sweet, juicy citrus aroma-- grapefruit, orange and pine. Very hoppy flavors, with the Cascade citrus and mild honey malt flavors really shining through. Cask conditioning is very smooth, highlighting the yeast character just enough to balance the hop presence overall. Clean, smooth and certainly hoppy. As with all DDC brews, a smooth creamy mouthfeel. Overall, an outstanding IPA.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber body topped by a medium-sized, white head. Smell: Honeyish, hoppy aroma with notes of passion fruit juice, flowers, and grapefruit rind. Taste: Honey candy, though with a restrained sweetness. Then, jumps to the fruity, resoundingly bitter hops. Continual hints of citrus. Slightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight oiliness to the mouthfeel. Drinkability: In short: it’s good. A nice surprise.

Bottle: Pours a hazy amber with a dense tan lacing head. Rich aroma of zesty pine needles, citrus/orange hints and a nice toasted caramel malt presence. Creamy dense carbonation on the palate. An IPA with nice malt depth, thank you! Rich, bready with some rye-like suggestions, toasted caramel, zesty pine notes, orangey citrus suggestions and a piny toasted finish. Has a great malt depth giving it nuances other than hop juice resins. Very tasty and cohesive.

7th of 13 tasters. I really didn’t know what to expect and I was very happily surprised by this brew. Pours orange amber with a off white ring head. The nose is hoppy big and damn damn damn citrussy, really exciting and enticing. The taste is full of citrus with a great pounding hoppy character. This really blew me away, gotta say this made me feel like I could have been back at Alpine in Cali getting a big citrus IPA.

[772-20071020] Cask @ Volo Cask Days 2007 (Toronto, ON). Sweet citrus hops aroma. Hazy, brown body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Citrus hops continues in flavour with slight woody notes. Medium body is bitter. Very nice hoppy beer.

Une pale ale à goût de pamplemousse avec un léger goût de caramel. Présence d’une forte amertume, très agréable. La bière et son taux d’alcool sont très bien équilibrés. Très bon produit pour ceux qui aime les bière amères!

on tap at volo cask days 2008. beautifully orange with a tight white head. big hop aromas with noticable caramel malt background. the malts take the lead in the flavours but the hops are there in plenty. the bitterness on the finish is nice but its held in check by the big maltiness. a nice IPA that i which i could get locally.
