Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

11.5oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, bright red-orange colored body with a billowing, two-finger width, dense and creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of clinging lace. Sexy looking IPA. Aroma is sweet and chewy caramels with a good amount of sweet, resiny, piney and grassy hops. A light amount of dark toffee and plenty of citrus. Flavor is full and sweet caramels, earthy toffees, woody and piney citrus, a bit of biscuit, and resiny oranges and grapefruits. Finishes dry and grassy with plenty of earthy caramels and hops that linger for a long time. Palate is full and slightly chewy. Overall, a really tasty and balanced IPA. Lots of malts and hops that blend very well together. Good one.

Smells just like a fresh pink grapefruit. Clear dark amber/red color. Fluffy off-white head with some lacing. Not the most complex hop flavors, but very tastey never the less. Soft, smokey malt flavor in the background for balance. Very enjoyable and drinkable.

Bottle. It pours hazy amber with a big off white head. Aroma is lovely, malt and lots of hops with notes of strawberries, grapes and hay. Unfortunately the flavour isn’t that intense, mainly dry citrus and malt with weak notes of hay. It has a tart and little to acidic aftertaste. But it’s a good one anyway.

Bottle@Home. Nice typical American floral aroma. Amber color, hazy, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, floral, grassy. All the ingredients you’d expect. Light, tasteful and good balance. Yummy.

TAP: Fresh hop nose, dark gold color, lathery head. Creamy caramelly malt front that bursts into a powerful hop bitter across the entire mouth. Great British IPA with a New World touch to it. Excellent.

Cask at Mondial 2005. Very floral, orangey aroma with a nice floral bouquet. Smells like Simcoe and or Amarillo might be in this guy. Smells yummy whatever it is. Transparent copper/amber color with a frothy big-bubbled off-white/light tan head. Slightly citrusy to start with a bit of sweetness. Middle is creamy finishing a more bitter hopped flavor. Not bad, but I could use some more malts.

(33cl bottle) Small beige head atop clear, dark amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange/floral, caramel, some grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit/orange, some caramel, nectarine/mango, light bread. Soft medium body with light acidity. Seems more like a hoppy amber than an IPA, though it’s quite tasty however it’s categorized.

11.5 oz bottle. Pours a good medium amber with a decent carbonation and a thick foamy white head and cool lace. Aroma is citrus hops, cascade, light metiallic from the cascade, lightsoapiness, god caramel malt backbone an some classic DdC earthy yeastiness which I like- almos therb and marijuana like. Flavor is more cascade metallic cat pee hops, mild caramel malt backbone, earth, more cattiness, light lemon rind, citrus even some lime-ade. Decent bitter character and good mouthfeel. Bitterness isnt as refined as I hoped and becomes a bit soapy. Nice solid IPA.
