| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2009 Bottle and served in my GI IPA tulip: Rich caramel hue topped by a nice frothy slightly off-white head which left ring of lace upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of resiny and acidic fruits, grassy and herbal , caramel and bready malts, slight bubblegum and medicinal vapours. Smells more akin to a strong ale than a crisper IPA. The taste follows suit with pungent resiny hops, light grapefruit and orange, grassy twang and a chalky metallic tone supported by a chewy bready malt backbone. While it is bitter, it is hardly a hop bomb however. Again I get more "Strong Ale or malter IIPA" character than a crisper and more drinkable IPA. Hardly bad (in fact pretty good still) but just not what I expect. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA

Pours a mostly clear mahogany amber color with a moderate sized, somewhat foamy beige head that leaves nice lace. Caramelly and toasty malts, with nice floral and lightly resiny hops. Hop forward flavors, with the toasty, biscuity and somewhat fruity malts evident, brash citrus and pine notes give way to a lingering astringent finish. Medium body and crisp, prickly carbonation. Aroma of resin hops with some nice floral notes. Taste is also dominated by some resin hoppy notes with a subtle caramel malt profile and ends with some bitter notes. Body is quite full with a nice texture and some good carbonation. rudolf (1774), Buffalo, New York, USA

I don’t know if my palate is off , this just does not taste like a ipa to me, of course I am comparing to two hearted. That said this is a very good nad drinkable beer. the price #.99 for the bottle will limit me to just a few of these crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA
