Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Amber. Had it from the cask at the brewery, so it had a silky smooth texture. Sweet with bitter hops. An above average but nothing incredible IPA.

Pours deep amber with a minor, fine, white head. Aroma is very hoppy. Flavor is incredibly hoppy with a strong hop bittering finish. A pleasant, moderate mouth feel really rounds out this pale well.

Bottle from Metro Joanette date coded as bottled Sept...3 weeks from bottling. Poured an intoxicating hazed deep amber-orange with a sticky rocky 2 finger cap that laced the glass well. Aroma: Piney, Grapefruit rinds, apricots musty sweet malty tones...perfect! Profile: WoW! Malty but not sweet...hop complexity drives this flavor...pine, grass, citus, cedar, woody tones...all in a musty-earthy malt vehicle...dry, slightly bitter finish with metallic after taste. Surprisingly light body and mouth feel...yet satisfying...very unique flavour and interpretation on this style.

at DdC on draft, and as a bonus they had the standard draught version as well as a hand pumped cask conditioned version. both poured an amber reddish color with a thin white lacing. aroma was thick with floral hops. the taste of the kegged version was very smooth with a nice crisp mouthfeel, and hints of both malts and caramel on the tail end, balancing out the beer exceptionally well, and was possibly my favorite IPA to date. the cask version had a little more body, but got a little bit too bitter for my personal liking, almost creating a pucker factor. I actually preferred the keg version, but my scores scores are more of a combination of both evaluations

I think they got the intensity right but maybe not quite the masterful 3-D hops I seek in this style. Bold, round hopping that takes on some complexity as the glass warms and I drink more of it. Piney and grassy and a bit hard. The bittering is foremost while not being too aggressive. Pale fruits and citrus are in there - it’s a nice unusual handmade IPA - but would like to try fresh draft at DDC or just-bottled fresh to really get the scoop here, as I would hope for greater things here. Enjoyed at - where else - Bar Volo! ** add note ** this beer does grow on one with repeated exposure. Cheers.

11.5 oz. bottle. Pours a murky, rust-colored amber body with a finger-thick tan head. A rich, malty aroma that features lots of roasty caramel upfront with some resiny hops underneath. Medium to full-bodied. A whole lot of caramel starts things off taste-wise. Finishes with some ample hoppy bitterness in the form of grapefruits and orange rinds. A little biscuity too. Nice balance.

Pours an almost clear amber with an off-white head with some lacings. Sweet and quite bitter. Sugary floral aromas. Also aromas of cereals and hay. Long and very bitter finish. A bit too sweet.

Pours a dark hazy copper color ,with a medium white head. Smells of big piney hops, grapefruit citrus, and yeast. Pretty sharpnose. The flavor was very crisp and biting. Huge hop bitterness hits you right away. Big juicy citrus hops and grapefruit just soak the taste buds fully. I would have thought this was stronger than 6.5% abv. vrey big flavor, drys out slightly in the finish, but leaves a big hop afterataste on the palate. Very solid IPA.
