Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Pours a brownish amber with a fantastic thick, stiff head and lacing that lasts forever. Beautiful hoppy, sweet aroma - very fresh and inviting. Tastes fantastic - malting is very caramelicious, perfectly balanced by assertive, gently citrusy hops - notes of orange, spice, and a nice dry finish. I can’t believe it’s almost gone! Creamy body but a bit under-carbonated. Very very nice, and packs a real punch. Thanks to Robinvboyer and Nick for the bottle!

The description is so accurate. Very hoppy, very delicious. Sharp bitterness in the aftertaste.

The look of this beer is range but with a slight haze to it. This beer pours a nice and creamy head. The initial flavor a mixture of hoppy bitterness you expect from a typical california ipa with some slight caramel. The caramel becomes more apparent on the aftertaste. This creates a nice mixture that keeps the beer from being too bitter or too sweet. The taste is quite exceptional, mostly due to how well it was balanced out. I’ll admit I absolutely love IPAs so my rating might be a bit skewed.

330mL bottle - pours a cloudy dark orange with a minimal head. Fantastic aroma of strong hops, spice and raisins. Intensely hoppy flavour, matching the aroma a lingering bitter aftertaste. Outstanding IPA.

One of the best IPA’s that I’ve ever had. Very hoppy nose, lots of citrus. Orange peel, grapefruit, marmalade, pine. Looks nice, sort of a dark orange colour. Average sized head, average retention and excellent lacing. Tastes great. Hops dominate without coming across as out of balance. Some caramely malts. Grapefruit, oranges, guava nectar. Good amount of bitterness. Medium bodied. Good carbonation. Overall, I’d say that it’s one worth seeking out if you haven’t had it yet. One of the best NWP IPA’s I’ve ever had.

Bottle @ Bar Volo: Pours amber, middling white head. Soapy, pine aroma wmakes way to aggressive hopping in the flavour, but with an interesting pine, pepper and caramel aftertaste. It’s excellent, and I’d love to try it on tap should I ever make my way to the brewery in Montreal. :(

Location: 11.5 oz bottle from State Line, 8/30/09

Aroma: Powerful nose of juicy citrus fruit hops and resin
Appearance: Hazy caramel color, foamy off-white head, and leaves a decent amount of lace
Flavor: Sweet matly flavor with balancing from a huge hop backing, a well made IPA
Palate: Dry finish, creamy mouthfeel, medium body, long finish, and nice all the way down
Overall Impression: My second beer from Dieu du Ciel, and they are 2 for 2 for sure! Between these guys and Unibroue I guess I need to drink more Canadian beer... Anyway, as for this one, I’m impressed! This is a beer I could drink a lot of, and at 6.5% I probably really could drink a lot of it. A very tasty brew for sure, well down by our neighbors to the north.
