Commercial Description:
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

(Bottle) Pours dark amber red with a small of white head. The aroma is medium hoppy with tones of citrus – mostly grapefruit and orange, floral/mild pine and apricots. Medium malty with buttery caramel up front. Subtle fruity undertones of starfruit, tangerine, woody pineapple and wild strawberries. The flavour is medium hoppy with citric (orange peel and grapefruit) and floral tones as the most notable. Light fruity and light to medium malty with some toastiness and caramel. The finish is very dry. The mouthfeel quite soft and smooth. Light sweet and medium bitter with some resiny notes. Medium bodied.

Bottle from SL. The pour was full red-amber, excellent initial head, ok retention, solid lacing. The aroma was full caramel and floral hops. The flavor was a hearty caramel malty base (with an almost gritty texture, hearty indeed), ample hops, floral and pine most prominent, but fruity citrus elements in there too. A decent brew, but too pricey to seek out again here in the States.

reddish brown with nice off-white head. nice hoppy nose. flavor of some crystal malt, some nice hop bitterness with some huge flavor that is straight cascade, which obviously is nice, but adding a few different hop aspects would make the beer more complex and memorable. very good ipa though

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Amber pour with a mild aroma of hop and citrus. Mild bitterness and citrus and hop flavor. It was good but not mind blowing.

341ml bottle, with a big thanks to HogTownHarry for this excellent bonus! Pours a clear and darker amber with a frothy two finger off-white head that lingers; great lacing. Aroma is some pine/resin, citrus and floral, with some caramel in there for good measure. Flavor is a sharp hops bite that is quickly tempered with a caramel malt backbone combined with some grass/pine earthiness. Only the slightest hoppiness lingers briefly on the palate. An interesting IPA and glad to have the chance to try; thanks again Harry!

Aroma: Citrusy & resinous hops supported by sweet caramel malt. Appearance: Hazy amber with a 1/4 inch of tan foam. Flavor: Sweet and spicy with ample bitterness up front. More spicy/herbal/pine hop flavors in the middle with a burnt sugar background. Dry, lightly puckering finish. Medium body and carbonation. Overall I really enjoyed this from start to the bottom of the glass...the flavor was interesting and quite refreshing.
